PGA course requirements:
Fairways that are unhittable due to slope - check Red and yellow lines in the box - check V shaped grid lines (and thus lying putts) - check (very regularly)
Perfect PGA course therefore.....
-8 -11
Won't make the cut...what a shame....

...and to add to Rob - bush in the middle of a green - check. The par 3 - 14 or 15 Rd1. Hit 2 puts both with through a bush sound. 1st putt (6 ft ish) didnae turn.
Please tell me -23 makes a cut. Did leave some shortish (<10ft) putts out there - but so will most people.
Play well y’all - but not to well that I mıss the cut and can make cut 3 of the season.

Of course you are making the cut. You have to.... cause I was only one shot better and really want to make it. Played really well in the first round and scored a - 12. In the second round I simply wasn't sharp. Missed two or three makeable putts and my approaches weren't quite as close as these greens are asking for. But I managed to birdie the last four holes to get to -8 for the round. -20 after two. Cut watching - as always.

Invisible bush? That's a new one. Don't forget to blame the crowds for your poor tempo guys! When you get to the vshaped grid lines snap a screenshot for me, not really sure what you mean there. If it affects putts I definitely want to look into it. Happy flicking/watching flicking from the peanut gallery

If it affects putts I definitely want to look into it. Happy flicking/watching flicking from the peanut gallery Bush - have seen/heard it before - once off the tee to a clear line to the fairway (I seem to think it was Heritage) crowds - no problem with lag so far. no flicking/watching and deffo no peanut gallery. I cannae be arsed with it and trust in a) karma and b) the admins ability to deal with it. Nice course though - didn’t know it was yours. Particularly love courses which have a bit of creative thinking in them. Much more a pleasant experience for this below-medium player in not being able to hit definite numbers/lines - I can be a little off but still be on the planet - unlike some weeks. play well all DP

60 Round 1 that should have been 57.
Round 2 was bloody horrific - lost everything. A double & a bogey inside the first 6 holes then had a straight putt go left on me @ 9 and put it in the drink @ 10. Was even par through 14.
Played the last 4 holes in -5 but -17 won't make the cut. 2nd missed cut in 3 weeks which is no good....
Loved the course apart from the fairways and the greens, the lighting, the oddly placed bushes and wastegrounds. and it's general appearance & playability.

I managed to get to -23 as well, not much of an accomplishment on your own course but I wanted to see how certain people were shooting, particularly because one of the design goals was to make anti-flick defenses. I felt going in that we may see a hokie or a hippy at the top this week but we will see. The formula is def shotmaking + best putting and taking special care not to leave a downhill putt, not to say you can't attack pins but this one is generally easier if you don't on some pins.
That 5 iron up to the back pin rd 2 on 18 is a badass shot aint it?
A few -17 posted in round 1, yall are killin it!

Really nice dog and the greens were tough and you really have to think about approaches. R3 in the v high winf was enjoyable and i see why r4 was put on moderate cos some of them pins on default in them winds werent gettable at all but with moderate it was fair. Best ive played in a long while and to go 72 bogey free im really happy. Played really solid r1 thru 3 but missed 6 putts from nowhere in r4 on the moderate greens. Should of had practice on them sets really. Left myself -4 thru 9 and staring at a silly back 9 to even tie the score that was in already but managed to find the touch that deserted me on the front to come back in -8 and play last 4 in -5 was great for me under pressure. Been practicing a bit more so wind and kick judgement is getting better. Hopefully its good enough for a top 5. Good luck all and good course again dog!

Front 9 is brutal and back 9 is high risk/reward. Love this design.

29 putts I think in the first round, and that's not counting 3 missed putts from the fringe. Missed 10 footers on consecutive holes. Ended up at -7.
Second round I tried to go for the green and got a very fast downswing into the water. Shot 4 ended up rolling off the green into the bunker and I bogeyed. Had another very fast into the water off the tee on 10. Lipped out a 5 foot par on 7 to go to +3. Then missed an 11 foot birdie on 8. First good thing of the round happened on 9 when I put my drive to 5 feet and eagled. Then I put my second shot in the water again on 10. Ended up shooting -4 for the round, so at least I went -7 over the last 10 holes. Worst thing about the round was that I was even on the par 5s.
Pretty sure all but one or two of the putts I missed were low.
Anyway, probably another strike for me. Sucks that I wasn't able to get my scores in on time in the last tournament since I would have made the cut to clear my previous strike. I thought the cutoff was still midnight central time? I finished at 11:50 PM eastern time. So now it looks like I'll have 4 demotion marks instead of 1... I really don't want to have to drop down to Euro again. EDIT: Never mind I see it's 4 AM UTC, so that's 11 PM eastern time. Wish I had realized that, would have saved me 2 demotion marks.

Pathetic performance from me. Opened with a -17 and then exhaustion from trying to play all 4 and this course hit me and I was brutally bad after that. First time in a little while that I’ve struggled like that. I just putted so, so poorly in the middle two rounds. Frustrating as hell.
This course was so close to being a really good and fun design for me but it does a little too much trickery for me to like it too much. Basically every single driver is a forced carry to a very questionable spot on if you can make it or not. That gets tiring and just feels so forced. I actually love the green complexes but almost every one the terrain appears to be great to use. The issue is the terrain almost always ends up carrying you down another tier and hurts you instead of helping you.
Just some small things but I felt like this could’ve been a really, really good design.
I did go through that bush on the green twice. Wish we played without crowds here because it was laggy but I never had that issue when I played the regular version twice.

Now, I'm all for ploughing my balls through a big bush, but I saw no such opportunity in R1 Actually played pretty well for a change and opened up with -16 after missing a 7ftr up 17 Tomorrow is another day, and a few people seem to have lost their marbles in R2, so you will be able to see me predictably slide down the leaderboard through the week. Nice track. A LOT of bendy fairway lies, but seemed to judge them ok for a change. Maybe you could lay up short of some of those ares if you tried (it is not in my arsenal to lay up). Interesting greens. A lot of imaginative ways to get close on some of the holes.

First event I've finished in a while. 36 when i started rd 4, then I began to play like my 5 year old. Probably going to return to my cave now. I have another course coming soon that takes some of the good from this one but it will play wayyyyy easier maybe ccpro or web.
I appreciate the comments from those who enjoyed surtsey, and if you didn't, well, to be honest I appreciate that too, just in a different way. Being a member of the pga I felt I could put something together that you all would enjoy and give you a chance to use your game knowledge and some interesting tiered greens to redirect the ball into parts of the green that at a glance are inaccessible. Seeing scores in the 50s for the tourney is mindblowing, especially considering most players outside of the pga have a time coming around here in even par. To me that means the design is a success. Until next time gentlemen
