This week the tour heads to John Adams Municipal GC bu gforce41 . A course that holds significant historical interest. If your American, I am sure you already know all this but for the rest of the world, let me tell you the 100% true and accurate story of John Adams Municipal GC.
John Adams was a dude born in Boston, his parents were Puritans and his dad expected John to become a minister. John was going through a rebellious phase and said, screw you dad, you can’t tell me what to do, it’s the 1700s, not the Middle Ages, I’m going to be a lawyer and off he went to college. College was a real eye opener for John, it was the complete opposite of the Puritan lifestyle and he loved it. He made a bunch of new friends, people with names like Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and they called themselves The Independence Posse. The Independence Posse, also known as The Bros, shocked the older generation with their behaviour and party lifestyle, more than once the authorities were call to their rooms because of noise complaints and because of The Bros love of pranks.
At the same time, there was another posse in the colonies at the time called The Red Coats, named so because of their love of fashion and the fact all outfits were finished of with a red coat. Their leader was called George, although he was living in England at the time. The Red Coats and George did not like The Bros, they found them uncouth and inferior, so they started throwing shade at The Bros. They then invented The Stamp Act which was anytime they came across a Bro, they would stamp on their foot and run away. This pissed of the Bros, whose new kicks were being ruined. So they came up with a plan. The Red Coats were the biggest tea dealers in the colonies. With there connections in The Indies, the had a dominant control of the tea market at the time and one of their main supply routes. The Bros decided to disrupt this supply route and operation Boston Tea Party was hatched. The Red Coats were caught unawares and boxes of tea were thrown into the harbour.
The beef was getting serious, the shade was getting nastier so both sides decided to arrange a fight. It was the talk of the town, well among young people anyway. Social media( newspapers and gossip) were full of stories about the upcoming fight, trash talk between the two sides was getting out of hand. Lexington was chosen as the location and both sides got ready to rumble. Demand to see the fight was huge, ticket touts cleaned up and when the day arrived, anticipation was huge. It was a close fight but The Bros were announced as the winners. The red Coats demanded a rematch. They chose Long Island as the location and emerged as winners. People were now getting sceptical, thinking maybe the fights were fixed, viewing revenue was dropping despite both sides saying nothing was fixed. One more fight was arranged, this time in Yorktown and John Adams had a plan.
The Bros were not the first posse the Red Coats beefed with, they also had a rivalry with The Frogs, a posse from France. The story of The Frogs and Red Coats is a story for another day. John Adams armed with the latest tech called the printing press, he used this device to secretly contact The Frogs and informed them about Yorktown. The Frogs were more than happy to help get on over on The Red Coats and shocked the world as well as stunning The Red Coats, it was a decisive victory, the feud was over and America and France became BFFs forever and that has not changed even to this day.
The Bros now found themselves leaders of a country, they had a election to see who would be boss, Washington won, pissing off John Adams who thought he should be leader, The Bros spilt up. John did eventually become leader but it left a bitter taste in his mouth. So how does all this relate to a golf course, no @!$#ing idea. The story did not go the way I invisioned when I started. So to avoid a completely new story, let’s say that after John Adams retired as president, he designed this golf course, yea, that’s what he did, I swear. Enjoy and have fun.
