Not sure if this is the right place for this but:
Do ps4 controllers go bad? I've been getting some very slow follow throughs on my drives just out of nowhere. I usually try to force a fast, so i can't see how I'd get a very slow. It seems completely random. It doesn't matter if the controller is fully charged, plugged in or 5 feet from the console. It just seems to happen once or twice a round.

I own 4 dual shock controllers and two of them work well with TGC, the other two do not. Resetting a Dual Shock controller:

Update: After the reset about 15 rounds without a hitch thanks, nevadaballin

Not sure what's going on now. My controller has a mind of its own! It moves and does strange things all by itself! I saw someone else post this is happening in the PGA thread. 😲😲

I have been getting slow backswings out if nowhere. Never had a issues with the backswing. I noticed because my shots were coming up way short but going straight. I play for the fast DS so I usually draw it. I knew something was up with these straight shots that go nowhere. Went to the range and turned on the feedback and there it was slow bs.
I was thinking it was my controller but it's not that old and wasn't cheap.
Wonder if the gerbils in HB servers are wearing out.

It can last up to 3 days with which i will play very little. Kills you on forced carries.

So it's like herpes 😲
I can't get rid of it. I think my controller is @!$#ed. I might get the Elite 2.

I had the same problem with the slow backswing, after thinking of packing the game in and pulling all my hair out, I too went on the practice range and using the shot feed back realised I was very slightly over swinging now I try to swing like John Rahm with a short back swing and I now have full power again, it's worth a try worked for me.

Over time I developed what I call a loose grip. This morphed from the desire to get extra distance using fast swings. The loose grip gave me the needed extra speed easily. It developed into crooked lines and my tempo was all over the place. Days were I would get slows and 95% swings to days with constant fasts. It was a struggle to stay in the cone and it got so bad I couldn’t putt straight. Funny part is I was convinced this all happened over night. I didn’t realize what was happening. I tried everything for about a month and I finally decided I would take a video of my hand and controller. After review I could see all the extra movements. Right then I knew I needed to start over. I started by no more fast swings unless it’s in my club gap I then went to a firm grip on the controller, this part was difficult, it took a few weeks to feel natural. But I will say I feel very confident now. I feel in control again and I don’t think about the swing only the shot. So much more fun!

In response to the OP, PS4 controllers most definitely do go bad, and from my (albeit limited) experience they are not all built equally either. For example, my old PS4 came with a controller that never, ever got me anything other than slow-slow no matter how many hours I put in on the ranges. I bought a new DualShock one & it seems to be much better than the one that came with my (admittedly second user) console. Then I bought a new PS4 Pro as I wanted the better quality graphics and the stock controller that came with that proved absolutely impossible to hit straight shots with. Why, I do not know but I have reverted back to the White DualShock I bought referred to above & so far so good.
Final thoughts - I suspect it is the build quality myself. When I started out in the computer game, building my own PC systems, the standard rule was "never, ever buy anything built in China as the build quality is all over the place" but these days it is nigh on impossible getting anything else. You need to persevere until you find a "good" one. Only buy through accredited suppliers, never use the ultra-cheap versions you will see on places like eBay (eBay is full of scammers, sad to say) and if at all possible buy in an actual shop so if you get a bad one it can be returned for exchange.

Not sure what's going on now. My controller has a mind of its own! It moves and does strange things all by itself! I saw someone else post this is happening in the PGA thread. 😲😲 my ds4 v2 came with the ps4pro(2017) now does much more strange thing...(in all games and apps like browser) if i move (R3) stick to the right ps4 takes even the command of (L3) UP, if i move (R3) to the left ps4 takes the command of (L3) DOWN... and with the (L3) stick in neutral position sometimes the sensor takes the UP command i opened it, clean it, more than once, but i think i got to unmount the analogic sensors for clean them from the dirt....and i'm not doing it because i'm sure i'm gonna broke it definitely... i got another ds4 v2 bought in september 2019, but this one has a problem with the alignment of the stick, basically i can't go straight into "the blue line" of the swing... fortunately i got an old controller(v1) from the first ps4 of 2013 that works lovely... even if i had to change the sticks for the issue of the ugly plastic used originally and the internal circuit twice.... wtf sony!
