Tim, Scott, Jeff, and Job would never say this, but I sure as hell will. I'm sick of the whining, groaning, complaining and b%&ing that goes on around here. People complain about course selection, the World Golf Rankings, how exemptions are handled, being forced to play a tournament, etc, etc. You guys have NO idea what goes into running this site. It would blow your f*****g mind. Do you realize that there is a whole OTHER site that's used just to run THIS site? There's currently 390 open topics taking place on the mother site all intended to make this site better. Yet, everyday I read posts where 'supposedly grown men' rant and rave like 14-year-old girls. If you want to give feedback, that's fine, we need and want that. But if you're going to just rip people, processes, and decisions then just head out.

Totaly agree i appreciate what all the guys are doing to run this site,it must be alot of work in their own free time.I enjoy the competition and though i might not like certain courses thats tough titties for me but i would not complain about them.The season is a long one and there will be courses i like and courses i don't like, probably the same in the real world.This tour is in it's infancy and there will be certain things that need worked out and it may take time to get it running properly.But they are doing a top notch job and this tour and site will only get better and better as we go along.

It's not just here... it's the HB site, too. I made a post a few weeks back asking "does anyone enjoy this game?" because all I saw was complaining on both sites.
I just don't get the sense of entitlement, and the feeling that the game has to be the exact way I like, regardless of the community's thoughts. It's the ugly side of what is generally a positive trend of developers listening to the community and implementing changes. Just because you get input doesn't mean you get exactly what you want... sometimes you have to compromise. I swear some people can't even see the things that they enjoy about the game anymore because they are so focused on things they want changed.

Remember the old saying, no good deed goes unpunished! These guys do a hell of a job. It blows my mind that they took this thing on. People actually complaining about not being able to compete and the need for a handicap system......Welcome to the new world that started to be created 20 years ago where "Everyone gets a trophy". Just pathetic. Even saw a guy who asking how they are going to compete with another software brand's golf game coming out soon that allows you to hit a shot over a battleship LOL Seriously? I wouldn't run people off though. Just ignore them. We will take their participation in the tournaments and hopefully the founders of this site will let their complaints roll off their backs. When someone complains about something stupid and in a non constructive way, the community should call them out and tell them whats up.  |

i want to apologize, perhaps i came off too strong in the "field" thread that is now locked.
i do want to say this though:
I understand the need to get lesser known designers some courses on the tour, and there are plenty that are deserving of such. I just wanted to voice my concerns as to picking a course that is not on the list of reviewed courses. In TWO, Doral was in my top 2 favorite courses there, I played that course and Scottsdale the most, and I feel neither should have been attempted in GNCD yet as neither can get the look anywhere close (imho) with the tools we have to work with. These two courses should just be left alone until we have what it takes to get the look down good. Same can be said for quite a few real life courses, but we do have the tools to get a few of the real courses done, just check pine valley and magnolia (masters), those look great.
There are plenty of 4.5 star or better courses from lesser known designers to choose from that are already on the list of courses we have, I strongly feel we should have started there instead of the route that was taken.
I understand the want to mimick the real tour course per course, but if the course we have is not up to snuff, according to the guidelines, we should skip it and plug in a "fictional" course that is every bit as deserving.
So again, I apologize if my post came off too strong with the whole "auto gen talk", I really wasnt trying to bag on colin, but instead trying to get an entirely different point across.

You got a site with I dont know how many members, several hundreds at least. Of course you will have people in here with different wishes and requests! Call it whining, complaining or whatever, but just realize that you CAN sort it out, and choose for yourself what is important.
There is no doubt that the admins and others are doing great stuff, and so are a majority of the designers and members.
Again, several hundreds members will have several hundred voices.

The steady growth is well deserved, this site is for me one of the major selling points of this game. As a software developer myself I am impressed how well it works especially given that it was made in peoples spare time. One thing to keep in mind is that people often are more likely to say when they don't like something than when they do. I'm not a big fan of this weeks course but wouldn't complain, the site is so well run and you can see, like the game itself, is evolving nicely... In short , well done guys, doing an epic job |
