Well, going to take my lumps this week and just move on. Course is a bit challenging in some places but nothing unfair.
For whatever reason, my swing just went to crap. Fast swings, slow swings, little white line looking like a drunk driver. And all this on BEGINNER clubs. On top of that, I missed some short chips lipping out and wasn't even close on some putts. I blame the craftsman and not the tools though. My issues started on hole one, but I managed to have a good streak where things seemed to be back to normal. Back 9 it started up again and I really struggled. Decided to play round 2 and that was a disaster. I'll finish up later in the week when I get some time.

This course didn't suit my virtual eye. When I play society events I don't analyze the green grids when putting, however, when I'm playing TGCT events I do. I became irritated with the course on the greens (maybe that's why it's called the Ghostbreaker) really quickly and played speed golf after the 5th in Rd 1. I made some great putts under those circumstances but also missed lots too. I'm looking forward to next week!

I thought it was just me...
Just finished round 1. Definitely a course I should have had a look at beforehand, and one where your second shot on the par 5 HAS to be left in a safe position to pitch or whatever and leave an uphill putt. I normally just whack D D and figure I’ll get it up n down for bird - not a good plan here. The honeymoon on PC didn’t last long.
-5. Two careless putts, one nice longer one that dropped. Saw the conditions for round 2 and figured I’ll wait a bit to play it.

Round 1 was a surprise for me as my practice round beforehand was OK-ish and after 35 years of playing golf video games I finally get my very first ever HIO....to say i'm pleased would be an understatement. Then I saw the conditions for Round 2, high winds are my least favourite and I want to capitalise on my solid start and not go too far backwards. So, like you Ray I've decided not to rush it and may play a couple of practice rounds in those conditions before carrying on.

I went ahead after a tablespoon of cement ( to harden the f up) and played round 2 (on PC, organising my scores to be pulled atm) Will post the score here once it’s live on the boards but suffice to say Eric (CHiPS) Estrada is smashing it like an early 80’s action show compared to me this week.

Play smart with the winds in R2 and you'll be fine. The Par 5's are all into the wind though, so that kinda stinks. A fast or slow downswing with side winds can be disastrous though. I wouldn't recommend doing that like me Agree with Mark about the greens. Ghostbreaker is a very appropriate name this week.

What genius decided it would be a good idea to include par 3's on this course? There were finally some times where it felt like I was building some momentum, and then BOOM, there was a stupid par 3 in the way. I played a clean, bogey free round but only managed par on every single par 3. It was my pretty much standard round thus far where I managed to avoid doing anything to hurt myself but didn't do enough to take my score to that next level. In the end it was my 5th round of the season and third time I've finished a round at -8. At least I'm consistent?

-14 R1, but I didn't make a putt over 14f. Through R2, after 15, I'm sitting at -9, but truth be told, I'm a weeeeeee bit irritated with the ghost-breaks (I've missed six 8Footers already), or opposite breaks when none is showing. For this reason, I'm retiring from this tournament and look forward to next week.
cheers.

My play was awful this week from tee to green. No excuses on that part. But it was compounded when I did have some opportunities and missed the putts. The one that sticks out in later rounds was a great 2nd into a par 5 that left me with a 10-footer for eagle. I read a small break and I missed by a full box (about 3 feet). Same conditions for everyone though, so it is what it is. Kudos to those shooting well on this track!

but i thought you map out each hole and know where to aim? so because you shot -9 (which most people would take) your 'taking the week off'?

Round 2 in the bag and I took your advice yaters and played it smart certainly for the first 8 holes, but with nothing much happening I took a few more chances from hole 9 and got some lucky breaks as well as a having a warm putter. However, (and hold onto your hats) it took me 90 mins to play Round 2 as I checked each shot and putt multiple times. I finished with a score of -9 with no bogeys which for me in that wind, on this course with ghost breaks is nothing short of a miracle. Hopefully that will keep me in the top ten and give me a nice platform going into the final two rounds. So all things considered, I can honestly say it was the most satisfying 90 minutes I've ever had with my clothes on.....

The only way I could take 90 minutes to finish a round was if it included a 70 minute bathroom break.

Keep the confidence going last few rounds and I think you have a real solid shot at top 5 or better. 90 minutes though. Goodness. You sure you didn't accidentally fall asleep during the round?

Not totally sure why I did it as I had no desire or reason to but I basically started round 2 by doing stupid stuff that I knew was stupid but did it anyway. By the time I realized I should cut it out I was +3 through 8 holes and had learned nothing constructive from my stupidity that will ever be relevant in another round of golf I play. Managed to birdie a par 3 finally and claw back enough to finish the day at -1. Nothing at all to be proud of but at least I kept myself under par and took away any pressure from thinking I could be competitive this week.

Edit: We can't always be like lucky charms, with rainbows and happy faces. I really, Really, REALLY dislike the false greens on this course . It sucks the happiness right out of you o_^.
2nd Edit: R2 finished at -10. On the plus side, I had another short 7F putt on 18, with extreme break (3/4 grid), but the line was actually true this time. That's at least hopeful.
