So I'm kinda browsing through the thread with the tour rejected courses looking for some insight as to why courses would not be up to snuff, not just for tour acceptance, but also for reasons why players or other designers would not like them. I am seeing quite a few that have been rejected for auto-gen designs, which makes perfect sense as an auto-gen course doesn't belong on the tour, but also leads me to my question.
Would it be considered auto-gen design to use the provided brush designs for the green shapes? Not using multiple brushes to stitch together a shape, but just simply using the brushes as is and plopping that shape down. I dont use any of the auto-gen features in the designer for anything else, but at the same time I didnt want to use splines or "stitch" a green shape together from multiple brushes on my current WIP.
And to be clear, Im only talking the shape of the green, not any sculpting or anything else that would go into the design of the green complex.
Thanks for the feedback.

I have no knowledge of the acceptability or not about using green brushes. Certainly bunker and tee brushes are acceptable so I thought greens should be as well. I don't use them because using splines gives you more editing ability as to secondary width, etc. If I want to use a brush shape I will put it down, trace around it with a spline, and then delete the shape.

It isn't auto gen to use single shapes, but it is, in most cases, lazy and easy to spot. Too basic.

Yeah I hear ya on the lazy aspect of it. I for sure will be using splines for the greens on my next course, but I don't know if I really want to go redo 3/4's of my greens/green complexes that have already been sculpted and planted at this point.
I was really trying to focus my attention on some other aspects of my designing that really needed some work while doing this course.
If it isn't good enough to be accepted because of the green shapes that's ok. That just means I should have taken that on originally and not been lazy with them, lol.
Thanks for the answers guys and if anyone else has anything to add to it I'm happy to hear it.

I have to admit, I use the stock brush shapes a lot for tees and greens and sometimes bunkers, if only because I find them faster and more often than not they do what I need, especially for things like square tees. I think if a design is well-executed it shoudn't really matter, but that's my own opinion.
The one thing I find annoying is why some of them have thicker borders though... there's one or two green shapes I really like but I can't use them because they have fatter fringes and it looks out of place.
