cephyn While you are entitled to your opinion, imo, your premise if flawed. You're basing your decision on a philosophical presupposition. When it comes to fair play it's paramount to stick with tangible facts, provided by the API. The API doesn't care if you're a "gamer", or a "purist". I hope TGCTours keeps it this way.
edit: @gw_Hope Chipping rules, putting rules, no scout cam, etc., have ZERO parallel with API.

There is the tangible fact that flickers can choose to pass the api. They can decide to have the misfortune of a mishit only in the moment it doesnt hurt them most. On the mildest greens, to the widest fairways. This is compounded by the fact that a pulled shot is impossible, so this deliberate mishit is still actually pretty accurate. Just aim left. Need full loft? Better flick.. big wedge swing cone? Activate mishit. It's a joke
I'm the first to admit that I was pulled by the api for this and that I used to defend it, but now I see it for what it really is. A boneheaded HB MISTAKE.
This flicking thing is a game ruiner for those near the top, and it effects a whopping 125 players in a meaningful way across the entire playerbase, in other words, dont count on a fix for 202?.
For me that means that I'm here for the community, the people, the courses and to play for fun. I used to think winning a pga event would be cool, but not at that cost. I will gladly join my medium brethren in their quest to win with integrity.
Good day fellas

My understanding of flicking is you pull back on the stick and just let the stick go from the top of the backswing so that It springs back under pressure of the springs inside is that correct. If it is you can’t do it on any of my Xbox controllers it just resets to the pre shot stance.

Let's ask a serious question, okay? What does my philosophy on this game have to do with someone passing, or not passing API checks? Some of you are under the presumption that a flicker who passes the API is cheating. flyingj75 Were you aware that I am not, nor have I ever been a flicker? What I am, is a proponent of allowing those who pass Api to swing in a manner most comfortable to them. Just because someone plays with full stick motions, all the way back, and all the way forward, maybe even lifting their ringer finger off the stick doesn't mean everyone else will be mandated to swing the exact same way. mrohde4 Anyone failing the API should 100% be punished, and imo, it should be much more severe. Off the top of my head I'd say, 1st offense is a one week ban, 2nd offense, one month ban, and 3rd offense, kicked off the tours until the next season.
cephyn I'm not ashamed, not one bit, to have a personal preference of how I most enjoy playing the game. Should I, or others, actually feel disgusted with themselves for doing such a thing? Your logic is very, very curious. And it should be noted, that I'm more than capable of playing w/out exact wind, however, for me, it takes away much of the enjoyment.
Here's some competitive play w/out exact wind. So please, don't judge a book by it's cover. Thank you. While multi-week bans for multiple API fails would certainly be a solid start, would your feelings about short-swinging change if you knew exactly how many top players failed API caused by using this method? The data isn't posted publicly, but we have a pretty decent idea. I think you might be surprised... Admins have an impossible task because many API fails are caused by other (and more innocent) reasons like non-conforming or worn-out controllers. Difficult to determine intent with no swing feedback shown. If the goal is to determine the best player, shouldn't a proven exploit that consistently produces in-human results be deemed illegal?

mrohde4 Absolutely not. Everyone has the right to swing a stick on the controller anyway they want, IF they pass the API. If there's a rampant problem with top players on the PGA then take all the API data of those known player, as compared to everyone else and "shrink the acceptable API range" to a smaller standard for all.

It is not possible to do this flick on PC AFAIK. And on XB1 it is way uncommon. PS4 is the platform where this is common. Rather than shrink the API range, which allows for more admin issues here and would allow for more kinds of "cheesing" around the rules, closing the loophole for the exploit should be the way to go. This is on HB, unfortunately.

You don't care if people put up overlays on their screen for precise swing timings and consistency Overlays on the screen - that is a new one for me. I do not even see how that would work.

Is using two bandaids, some gorilla glue and a half a bottle cap okay if I still pass the api? Asking for a friend.

sandsaver01 I came from WGT where a huge part of the community were into graphs, charts, overlays, rulers on screen, etc. You can only have those programs working if playing on a PC. Anyways, I stopped playing on PC after the 1st month or so of TGC 2019 and switched to PS4, where all my Tournaments have been on. Most of these guys (or anyone remembering) should already know this but are conveniently omitting it. I only play using the draw/fade markers for spin. Since coming back from my playing break all I use is a single page of printer paper, which I have hand written distances. Only one side of the paper has been written on.
My point? Don't believe all the negativity and hype. Unfortunately, some people put all their energy on attacking an individual person instead of remaining on point with relevant facts pertaining to the discussion.

Sounds like your answer is “I agree with and support the admins decision.” Which I respect because I feel the same way However, in TGC1 days before API, straight shooters were punished based only on video evidence. It was tangible evidence, but far from objective hard data. Fast forward to TGC19, how would you feel about the tours taking action against shortswingers despite still passing the API?

I find if you 3D print a little cover to fit on your joystick you can make your swing as long and straight as you want........
That’s a joke by the way.
