11th BEFORE There doesn't appear to be many changes made to the 11th, but there have been. Firstly the green has been reshaped and recontoured, making it trickier to get close to pins and to putt on. Secondly the fairway has been narrowed all the way up, including where it pinches in on the right which will make you considered whether to hit driver all not. Thirdly, a lot more bushes have been planted and rough allowed to grow, which as well as meaning it borders the fairway in areas, it also means the closer you are to the green the less of it you're going to see. Finally, the lake near the tee has been made bigger and looked after. While this won't affect your tee shot in any way, it does make it nicer to look at. AFTER

12th BEFORE Not a great deal has gone on with the 12th. The bunkers have even stayed the same design, though sculpting has been significantly improved. The planting has also been improved so the hole looks a lot better. The big difference though is the green, which has also been resculpted. The basic shape is the same, but the slopes have been made more severe making placement off the tee vital if you want a chance at birdie. AFTER

If you want a great example of getting low light to seep through the trees instead of creating fat shadows, check out Necedah Pines or Muir Woods. Also a fantastic example is Black Hawk, though it's not a great track. Try using low clouds and haze to dim and filter the light.

Thanks tpetro.
I've played Muir Woods and the lighting does look very impressive. I've not touched the lighting other than very early on. It's something I will tinker with when I've finished redesigning the holes.

13th BEFORE The 13th has seen some significant changes. The fairway has been redesigned so instead of it running straight, it now has a severe kink/slight dogleg just as the landing area approaches. As a result, all the old bunkers have been removed and completely new ones built. Also, the large hump on the left around 300 yards from the tee has been eased as every tee shot that found the fairway always ended up on the right hand edge of it. Now they don't. Up to the green and the whole green area has been dropped a few feet to allow better visuals from the second shot. While the green and bunkers remain similar in shape, everything has been resculpted and the green now features more severe slopes. Each pin needs to be approached with thought, otherwise you could end up with a difficult putt. AFTER

After a gap to do the Lido contest course, I'm back on this. 14th BEFORE I've changed little on the 14th. It retains it's three fairway choices (except for front tees where you have to go up the right). Bunkers are also in the same place. Basically this hole has been left alone except for sculpting and planting improvements. AFTER

15th BEFORE The big change on the 15th has been the fairway. The position of the bunkers on the left show how wide the fairway was before. The fairway has been narrowed a lot so it is about 25 yards wide up to the corner. It makes the tee shot a lot more strategic. You can either hit long iron or hybrid to the main part of the fairway to leave you a shot with a view of the green, or you can hit driver or 3 wood over the bunker at the corner to leave a wedge or even a pitch but you won't be able to see the green and you run the risk of overrunning the fairway if you hit driver and finding the pot bunker at the end of the fairway. Other changes see all the greenside bunkers resculpted and all the fairway bunkers redesigned. The tee and the green remain pretty much unchanged. AFTER

16TH BEFORE Apart from the pond being made a little bigger so it goes even closer to the green and bunkers being reshaped, the layout of the hole is unchanged. The big difference is the sculpting. Gone is a tee shot over a blind hill with fairway bunkers you can't see. Gone is the blind second shot to clear the pond you can't see (if going for the green in two on this par 5). The hole looks a lot better and it makes a lot of difference. AFTER

17TH The 17th is quite an evil par 3. It's long to a green protected by bunkers front left and front right and a pond left. You need accuracy, though there is an option to run a ball up the small fairway to the green that is slightly raised. The pond has been brought closer to the green, the bunkers have been resculpted and planting significantly improved.

18TH BEFORE Significant work has been undertaken on the fairway. The slope right to left remains but has been eased a lot as it was too severe. All bunkers have been removed and replaced by new fairway bunkers. The green complex remains largely unchanged other than bunkers being resculpted and grandstands added for that close of tournament feel. AFTER
