Round 3 started with an eagle on the second hole but could only muster 2 birds and a bogey on the rest of the front 9. Back 9 started well birdying 10,11 and 13 so -6 going into the dreaded next three holes haha parred 14 then decided to play the 15th sensibly layed up with my second shot then flopped in from 35yds for eagle! Lipped out for par on the 18th though to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Onward!! I get those bad tastes a lot: lips, edges, stopping 4” to the left/right of the hole. I need Listerine when I play! *Mint, not original. Original just replaces one bad taste with a worse one.

I thought R3 was going to be a great round. I had an eagle on #2 and a birdie on #4. Then a nasty double bogey on #6 and another bogey on #11. One last birdie on #16 to finish at -1 for the round and -5 for the tournament.

Round 4 was bad from the start and got worse. I started off with a bogey on #1, then another bogey on #3. I temporarily righted the ship with an eagle on #5. Then another bogey on #6 and a double bogey on #8 put me back under. For some reason I lost my swing tempo and was taking the scenic route around the course. I broke even on the back nine with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys. I finished the round at +3 and -2 overall for the tournament. I'm happy I finished under par, but I don't think -2 will hold up against my hungry rivals! The bar has been set. Never mind how low, it has been set lol.

Had a nice start, pretty much shot my handicap in R1. much more relaxing course though than last week, I can play and enjoy this one!
My big trouble holes were #9 where I drove the sand right beside the hole then lost five shots by playing the back and forth game, (ugh!), and #16 where every single shot hit a tree branch and knocked it down. LOL
had a couple nice birdies though, to keep it fun!

Played a wonderful round 2, and got to watch gavlaar124 have a melt down on the 15th that was quite impressive although I couldn't see much of it through the trees he was in. He might have hit the best punch shot I have ever witnessed to get on the green for his 9th shot. Pretty impressed if his controller is still in tact, but he did finish with a couple of birds on the last two so I suspect that he has cooled off. As for my round, it would have been -19 had it been with aids on. Just had good yardages, and left myself with a ton of makeable putts. Obviously in USE shooting a score like that would be insane, and I missed enough putts to counter my ball striking and finished with a really good round of -9. I believe I am in contention after 2 rounds, so we shall see what the next 2 have in store.

Up and down like the proverbial....E and -2 for first 2 rounds. -5 on the front 9 in Rd 2 only to 4 putt hole 12 from 8 feet for a triple bogey. Master clubs doing my head in....BUT, am enjoying the challenge through gritted teeth. Cheers

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve heard “he’s going through the branches” lol

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve heard “he’s going through the branches” lol I’ve asked John to comment elsewhere. He felt bad when I dismissed him, but a few pints and a couple of single malt whiskies later, he felt lots better. The pub owner (a friendly Irish lass) only objected to John’s gregariousness when he got up to do karaoke: “Why don’t you put down the mic and give someone else a chance”, I believe she said.

Excellent ball striking continued over the last two rounds. Just got off the course and am flying pretty high. Highlights include holing out for eagle from about 140 in round 2 on #11. Making an ALBATROSS on #5 in round 4, and holing out from about 75 yards for birdie on #16 after I pulled my tee shot and laid up trying to make par. I also shot 59 in that 4th round, and while that score does seem insane it comes with two hole outs. I need to get Twitter going as I would love to show those highlights. I played by myself with no ghost balls, and couldn't be prouder of my week of USE. Hopefully my ball striking continues into the coming weeks.
-5 -9 -7 -12
-33
On a side note, I shot -32 on the PGA this week. Seems like I may be nearing a point of never using the loft box again!

Round 2 started better (turned at -1), but ended the same at +3. Navigated 15 better (par) but found water on 16 for a double. Made a nice birdie on 18 to salvage some dignity.
Onward!

LMAO. Something about a blind squirrel and nuts being found. I'm after the top spot, and there is only one way to get there and that is wearing black and dropping bombs.

Breaking 59 on USE takes some serious good golf on approaches and putting⛳👍. 33 under is just superb because it's not an easy course with 187 greens, well played👏.I like your last sentence 😁 I haven't seen a loft box since we restarted this society multi platform.
