Sumatra is now open and Tee times are available!!! This is a island theme design, Par 72 plays, 6320 yards from the Green tees, 6631 from Blue, and 7054 from the Black. Featuring 4 par 3's, 4 par 5's and 10 par 4's (plays best from the tips) I've added some pictures of a few holes of each 9. Hope you enjoy Hole #1 The opening hole is a reachable par 5, which features a sand cut split fairway Hole #3 Is a par 3 that all tees play 136, which has the local favorite "The Broken Bridge" between you and the green Hole #4 A par 4 that plays uphill 373 from the tips, you will find a surprise as you walk up to your tee shot, as you will walk by a Cenote as the fairway starts Hole #6 This par 3 plays 160 and change from the Black, with a well hit tee shot, you should have a good chance at birdie Hole #8 Uphill par 4, playing into the base of a Mountain, with 4 bunkers guarding the green Hole #11 Par 3 that plays 150 - 165 depending on the tee box, 2 tier green, be sure to be on the right side of the slope or you will have a tough time making par Hole #12 The signature hole on the back 9, which features 4 lakes, 3 different sections of fairway all shaped by the river Hole #18 The closing hole, plays downhill the whole way, the ocean is off your right and the green is guarded by 3 pot bunkers

Really nice first publish! Very unique use of the Tropical theme, I thoroughly enjoyed my round. Liked the use of sand/bunkering, and the red mulchy hillsides. I especially noted your use of elevating flowers into the trees, creating a very unique "flowering trees" look throughout. This really felt like a golf course built on a remote pacific island. Stragically, you make the golfer think about teeshots and approaches; in some places this feels like a blend of fantasy and real life course, based on your topography.
Great job, looking forward to your next design!

Well, I see that the designer has posted his own and they look good. I take pics for the database and post those to this thread if the designer can't post his/her own, or if they pm and ask me. Because of the problems on the site I still can't access the database, so I have no idea what has been submitted.
Bottom line, I really don't like to post pics of a course unless asked by the designer.

Hi,
First off, congrats on the first publish! There is lots of good here and the ideas are interesting, with some of the planting in particular really nice (flowers in trees for example).
That said, there are some things you really need to focus on (this is normal for a first course) - do watch Andre's YouTube videos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM0QqDSGjKiH6Vxb6b8kHhg), particularly on sculpting and bunkers - you use the same circular bunker shape, they almost always encroach on the fairways and greens and the bunkers themselves are dead flat. Try to make sure they are deeper and that the playing surfaces flow around them; you'll get a much neater look. My other major critique to focus on would be your sightlines - lots of the tee shots (e.g. 2, 5) are unintentionally blind as you haven't lowered the ground in front of the tee, or raised the tees/greens.
Basically, work on your sculpting - it's the single most important thing in the designer as it affects your hole in terms of visuals and playability. Where you have attempted sculpting, it's quite forced (i.e. green side on hole 5). The more you can make the landscape look natural, the better. I'd highly recommend watching this as well, which gives a great insight into turning a flat hole into something much more interesting:
Like I say, the ideas are promising, but I don't think it'd be helping you develop if we glossed over some of the common issues that you need to look at ahead of another publish.
