Friday's round was fun but not my best. The playing partners were great, the course and weather magnificent. My game was just not quite there. Mostly had to due with my swing plane being too flat and me not recognizing it in time. I did win a closest to the pin and make that putt for my lone birdie. Saturday was much more enjoyable, probably because I was playing with my daughter which only happens once a year. The course was more familiar and less demanding, and the company and weather was as good as Friday. Remembered the swing plane issue and that helped keep me more consistently in play, had more trouble transitioning from the lightning fast greens of Friday's course to the regular greens. Left a few putts short but did not bother my enjoyment. Related sidebar: ordered new "preowned" driver and 5 wood to match the 3 wood i have in my bag and like. They arrived yesterday, 5 wood in perfect condition the driver....not so much. Shaft was snapped in half, box looked like it had been used before and had been run over by a semi. In conversations with the seller, he sounds willing to refund me the price of a replacement shaft provided it's at a reasonable cost. My question is, this is one of the new screw in shafts of recent technology. If I go to the local PGA Tour Superstore will they have a shaft ready to go or will they have to order or assemble one? Head is a TaylorMade SLDR model. Any feedback would be appreciated. I bought a used SLDR driver about 2 years ago that the owner had put an updated shaft in. I'm no equipment expert, but I would say that most golf equipment stores would have a compatible shaft in stock. They had the exact shaft in stock, but they wanted $100 for it. I am a man of simple means (translation: frugal) (further translation: cheap), so I found a nice $30 shaft that might work better for me as it is a bit lighter (my swing is not very quick, never was). Will pick it up tomorrow after work. Best news is the seller agreed to refund me the cost of the shaft and grip.

Just reached 3.4 index IRL, my lowest ever. I'd say my strengths are being able to drive it pretty straight and relatively long (260-270 average rougly) and being good at scrambling. My weaknesses that prevent me from reaching low singles are inconsistent iron play (probably where I get my scrambling ability from ) and especially struggling with distance on lag putting. Just got back from a trip to Seattle and it was fantastic! Played Chambers Bay and Gold Mountain (Olympic) while up there and had a blast playing both. Chambers was more memorable but I could play Gold Mountain over and over.

Went out this past weekend and shot 100 for the second time in a row at my home course. 3 legit pars, but also 3 blowup holes. Also felt very rushed the first few holes by other groups, and did worse than I could have. Saw Cleveland's new woods and wedge this morning. golfweek.com/2019/09/09/cleveland-launcher-hb-turbo-driver-designed-to-help-weekend-players-find-more-distance/Never gave much thought to Cleveland, but I do recall I had the first gen Cleveland HiBore driver, and I hit it a ton better than my Ping G10. After I fix up my swing a little with lessons, I think I need to look into the Cleveland woods/hybrids line. Maybe CBX2 wedges from them too. Going to try and schedule some lessons soon - anyone have advice on red flags from a golf teacher? Things to ask or look for positive or negative?

Played President's Day last Saturday. Shot a 79 for 32 points. Satisfied with that given I play once a fortnight these days.

I'm a very odd golfer. Bogey golf is what I aim for and my scores vary from 80-105 typically. I can hit the ball relatively far off the tee and the most accurate clubs in my bag are the long sticks - Driver, 3-wood, 5-wood, 4-hybrid. Oddly enough I'm a relatively short hitter with irons and not very accurate with them. GIR are a rarity for me. Not many people are more comfortable 200 yards out vs 130-150 yards out but that's just how I am. I'm better with my wedges than my longer irons but I'm also more comfortable hitting a pitch shot than taking a full swing. My putting also varies. Some days it's hot and others it's NOT. I am also a fan of watching golf sidekick videos as cephyn mentioned earlier. Stress-free golf is a great goal to strive for. I even started wearing a bucket hat occasionally while golfing to help me remember the way of the playa. I've definitely noticed that I have more fun if I just play the most comfortable shot at any given time, even if it makes no sense to the typical "aim at the pin" golfer (plus I lose less balls this way). I'm happy with bogeys, if I'm within a pitch of the green for my birdie shot, it's a success! Those things combined with making some putts lead to my best rounds which for me are in the mid-low 80s. Also, stress-free style golf allows me to have more fun playing even if I shoot 100+. Remember the good shots, forget the bad ones and move on!

Awesome stuff CiB0RG . Unfortunately I have not been able to golf much this season but the trade off was having my daughter so it's not too bad. The times I have been able to get out since starting this post, I have really tried to calm my swing, play to the safe areas and just have fun hitting the ball around with friends and family. I usually shoot around 100 or over, but since I've started relaxing and adopting the way of the playa, I've really started hitting much better shots. Most recently I played 9 holes of a course that usually eats me alive and shot bogey golf, could have actually been much better but my putting still needs a lot of work.

Just signed up for some lessons, first one is tomorrow (assuming the weather doesn't wash it out). Saw that the Cleveland CBX wedges I've been coveting went on sale on Carl's Golfland, so I picked up a new 50* and 56*. My current 50* is 15 years old, and when I try to do a little pitch-chip with it, the ball comes off looking like a knuckleball. Hopefully I can get a better groove on after the new wedges come in!

Just bought a k9 cobra fairway wood, it's a beauty 23 Deg, been smacking it around 220 yards.
I've been having lessons aswell. According to the pro I've got a nice swing, but had a nasty habit of breaking my wrists at the top and over extending which means I swung my arms thru quicker than my body and flip them thru impact. Which leads to erratic striking. Which meant I sometimes shot mid 70's but then shot high 90's
He's teaching me to time my hip turn to sync with my downswing which remarkably is leading to a natural draw and more distance with a slower more controlled swing. Currently shooting mid-high 80s but it's consistent

Wow. I hope when I get a lesson he can find something for me to work on. I'd love to shoot mid-high 80s consistently. Sadly my lesson on Saturday got washed out, so trying again this coming saturday.

Played a local league match (better ball match play) on Saturday at Newcastle. We didn't have the best of starts... we were 6 down after 6 having made only one par between us. I then played the next five holes one under par and losing 5&4 brought some respectability to it.
The team needed 5 points over two weekend matches to stay up in the second tier. We lost 6-4 at Newcastle, then for the second time this season the away match at Alsager was called off due to water logging. As this past weekend was the last weekend of the season, the league are going to have to sort something out. I'll leave them to it!
Edit - The league have decided the Alsager away match will be a 5-5 draw.

Not all states participated (and not all that participated are listed), but this chart is both interesting and surprising to me. But my State is #1 I'm surprised Ohio (also my state) is so low ... we can really only play half the year due to weather. On the other hand, there isn't a whole lot to do in Ohio, so maybe people spend more time at indoor ranges practicing all winter. ps. Jason Day lives a few miles from me ... would certainly be nice to get a few lessons from him!

Keep goin mate, I went to a couple untill I found Dave. One of my teaching pros told me to put a ball inbetween my knees and everything will be ok. Imo the best coaches are the ones who adapt your game to improve it instead of trying to turn you into a low budget Rory clone
