Shenanigans Golf Architecture Proudly Presents Columbia Golf Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Columbia Golf Club, located in Northeast Minneapolis, is just minutes from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. Columbia Golf Club started as a simple 6-hole, sand green golf course in 1919 and was expanded to 18 holes in 1923. Now, after celebrating more than 90 years serving golf enthusiasts of Minneapolis, St. Paul and surrounding communities, Columbia Golf Club has evolved into one of the area’s premier golf facilities, featuring a state of the art golf learning center, full service food and beverage, and a golf shop.
Columbia Golf Course features gentle rolling hills, mature tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, multiple sets of tees to challenge players of all skill levels, and vistas offering breathtaking skyline views of downtown Minneapolis. The course features blocked off fairways which is nontraditional, and also features unulating greens that can be tricky if you hit errant approach shots.
For this project, the LiDAR data and bunkers are the only things that were brought in. I did all of the splining, water, greens, and fairways using the measuring tool. The course is planted as close to the real thing as I could get. This was a request from a community member, but happens to be one of my favorite to build so far because I did so many things from scratch. The course is now open for business, and I hope you enjoy!
PS - The course is VERY short so I am asking that you keep the driver in your vehicle as you will not need it. As always there is a video below of the flyover of the course!

Huge thanks to coasterroyalty for taking this project on! I’ve played many many rounds here since high school and I’m proud to call it my home course. Signature hole (in my mind) is the par 4 7th. A massive downhill tee shot awaits followed by an approach back uphill. The lighting is very intentional here as well. If you grab the twilight discount tee time (4:00 pm) as I always did, you’ll be faced with a blinding tee shot directly into the setting sun on hole 11. Great touch put in here.
