So I go out and shoot -15 in one round at Lion's Gate to only follow it up with a -6.
Same wind conditions, just a replay and 9 strokes difference. Golf is an amazingly frustrating game at times.
Seems like the swings are down, it is just a roll this way or suddenly putts are lipping out when they were going in, just little things. There are moments of absolute brilliance, followed by what looks like a great shot but rolls 30 feet past. All those things I can control. What I can't control is the ball squirt or the fact in one round a 12 mph tail wind adds 9 yards distance when the next round it adds 14 yards...all with the same club. It is the random little things that don't make any sense that kills me.
This is most prevalent when it comes to putting. The breaks from one green to another you would think would be consistent but i find that one one hole for a 5 foot putt I click over 2 times, dead center. Next hole, same break, I lip out on the bottom end. Makes me wonder how the big boys overcome little issues like this.
I'm so glad some people find this much easier than folks like myself, but I have played over 100 rounds this week to get my stroke back into shape. While that part has been resolved, the rest of the game is so inconsistent it is really frustrating. Argggggh.

Wind is dynamic - you can get a gust when ball is in air.
It's not enough, but it's something....

I especially like how sometimes it seems that the speed of the arrows on the grid mean nothing. Moving slowly and it breaks like crazy sometimes and then they're moving fast and it barely breaks at all. I'd say about 80% of the time they're alright but it's the other 20% that drives me mad. On that note, I realized with 45 minutes to go last night that I hadn't played my final tournament round so I had to speed through it. Funny (or sad) thing was...I hit my putts better than I had in my previous 2 rounds even though I was just trying to get through before the clock ran out.

The green grid is an average of breaks in that square. Watch out if you have a no break square with breaks around it or if breaks in square to left and right of your line are inconsistent. Just as in real life, it is sometimes a guessing game. That is great. Courses like Jebel Ali does this exellently, some putts on there that will leave you scratching your head.
If you dont like the grid, why not turn it off? ;-) Same goes for the wind meter...

whispering pines is another that gives me fits, I have been playing the q-school course and that one looks like you can go low, until you hit the greens LOL

What drives me insane is my penchant for shooting low in practice and then sucking the giant easter eggs on "game day." I don't FEEL like a choker, but apparently I am?

I think i should stop the "practice" round and just shoot, cause i almost always shoot better in practice, but why is that? Pressure! In a practice round if i miss a couple birdies in a row, I don't freak out or think damn this next hole i HAVE to birdie. I just play on. I also find that in tournaments I am sometimes OVER analyzing this. Read a putt for an extra 10 seconds rather than doing it on feel like i do in practice. I'm trying to stop doing this and play the tournament round and practice round the same. This means going more often with my first, gut, instinct and in practice rounds, taking more time to inspect the greens, slopes and such. That way every game, every shot is the same.

I do approach the tournament rounds differently than practice. In practice I generally have the TV on and am just chilling. When the tourney starts, I'm sitting up in my seat and analyzing every element of every shot. I am going to try to change my habits.
