They're useful for filling the plot in areas that aren't terribly important to plant. Using them helps you conserve file size and memory.
The reason for that is that they're procedurally generated, meaning the game follows an algorithm to create them. As a result, your course file and the designer don't need to retain any information about them, conserving resources.
The drawback is that they appear only within a narrow size range and they are always rooted at the surface (as opposed to being sunken), so the variety is somewhat limited.

I totally agree with ErixonStone and cliffs! I mean, auto-gen trees are the best choice in such a case, and I am sure about that. A single plant is much better than a multiplant. Multiplant would take much more space, and it wouldn't be that efficient! I am not really good at landscaping, so I might be mistaken! Even when I tried to install the swing for my kids, I messed it up! I didn't fix it well to the tree, even though I have got the best and most reliable ropes. I got them due to the recommendations from www.growgardener.com/best-rope-for-tree-swing/, and the strings are perfect! As you can understand, I am not good at doing anything by myself.

Yeah auto gen is great, just do a rinse over your course, for some reason I get random trees, bushes and grass on my fairways and tee boxes haha. Also if you want to cover certain gaps in your planting and want to save on the meter and time from so much planting, consider creating mini hills and mounds at the deeper layers of your landscapes. Little mounds throughout do a great job of cover those low areas below the trees where light can peek through. I try to use little kickers on the course and in my tree lines to roughen up the sight lines so that it doesn’t feel artificial and smooth (if that makes sense).

I do depending on the situation. Basically, suppose the landscape isn't the focus but has a decorative function in the background. In that case, I use automation, which itself generates trees. There are situations where you need to create each tree manually. It's usually for large holes. I try to make it convenient for the gardener, who will in the future mow the lawn on such lawnmowers trimthatweed.com/the-best-zero-turn-tires-for-hills/.Также sometimes plant plants located in the corners of the landscape, to achieve the right look. In any case, I don't separate the trees into separate groups.

OR, or, OR...you can grow up and use landscape flatten..."now it looks awkward"...landscape flatten; first page; top right corner...also cart path fixer.
a tip on greens and fairways...for those who listen...flatten greens and fairways separate. ^^^same tool^^^
honestly you keep looking for tips, and I just gave you pretty much the entire thing. use the blue not the red on tgc2019...2k21; it's your battle.
BEWARE OF THE STEPS IN YOUR FIX.

They add so much beauty and character! By the way, have you ever considered using landscape flatten? It can work wonders, especially if you focus on the first page, top right corner. Oh, and don't forget about the cart path fixer too! Speaking of greens and fairways, here's a little tip for those who are open to suggestions: try flattening them separately. It's amazing how much of a difference it can make! And if you're playing TGC2019 or 2K21, remember to use the blue instead of the red. The battle is yours to conquer! Just a friendly heads up though, be cautious of the steps involved in your fix. Safety first, right? 😉 Oh, and if you ever need any assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to J's Custom Landscaping team. They're experts in the field and can surely help you out. Happy landscaping!
