I would freaking love to play this game for money if it was theoretical possible to get matched up with players of similar ability and catch any cheating. Sounds like a blast.

Without live events, playing for live money comes with more downsides than positives in my opinion. Nothing stopping folks from setting up private one-on-one games with on-your-honor electronic fund transfers to the winner. But large scale events with purses sounds like a disaster. Sure, if some e-gaming promoter wants to organize and doesn't care about cheats or modded controllers then by all means, have at it. But to operate legitimately, you'd need API data, mandatory streaming and/or uploading, and cameras on the player's controller and console/computer during the rounds. Even then, many would be skeptical of sub-60 rounds no matter the course or conditions. Folks are caught cheating with literally nothing substantive on the line - can't imagine the depths some would take if there was actually money involved. My same fear. With the only difference that,if all the conditions that you cite were accomplished,i could not imagine how people could cheating. I mean, they should be not cheaters, but pure evil genius But i don't would be too warried about who could see a cheater in every guy good enough to score sub-60. Something is the legit desire that everybody plays following the rules, another thing is that loser's attitude that works as "if i'm not good enough to do it,nobody can do it. Then everyone who can do it, has to be a cheater and no doubt on this". I disrispect cheaters, enormously. Always, but in this game in a particular way, cause golf is about honor and to be "gentleman". Even if played just in a videogame. I can't respect who cheats with the desire to cheat. But i disrispect almost too much that loser's attitude. So if this kind of rules were implemented and someone could find something to complain about the sub-60 scores with no evidence of cheating...well..i can't say here what they should to do EXACTLY, for me. But you can imagine it

This site should charge for what it does. People take it for granted . But it what it is.
Gambling money with video games is like starting a business with a partner. Usually never ends well. Someone is getting @!$#ed.

On the subject of real money, when can we designers charge green fees?

Someone is getting @!$#ed. Fully agree this site should charge subscription fees and I’d gladly pay whatever they asked. Problem is they’d be receiving real money based on a product that uses valuable trademarks like the PGA, Web and European Tour names and all the tournament names and sponsors. My sense is those tours and their business partners would demand a slice of the pie or bring legal action to have the site taken down. I think it’d be possible to keep the structure of TGCT with fake tour names and tournaments - the CC levels are an example - while charging a fee. Clearly the admins value the ability to mirror the tours schedule and prize money/rankings system that they haven’t made this change, but I bet they’ve contemplated this structure.

You'd get swamped with just the legalities before you even get to start with any of the coding. Money handling & gambling laws are very strict, vary from territory to territory and have a habit of changing often. That's a lot of work to keep on top of.
If you did it without being legally compliant - then you'd be able to offer no-one any assurance their cash & payment details are safely looked after. It'd have to be a very closed & private club to do it out of sight of the law - not something for a public site.

As far as your concern about the payouts not being real monAs far as your concern about the payouts not being real money, I can assure you they are. It's just an in-game currency. As far as the API data goes, we don't have access to that either. That's why there is no way to access it. No offense, but your tone is a bit condescending, and that's something I don't appreciate at all. I know this may seem like a small game to you, but it's really not. You can try to use 우리카지노, there you will convert the virtual currency into genuine FIAT one, and also you can cash out it.ey, I can assure you they are. It's just an in-game currency. As far as the API data goes, we don't have access to that either.

On PlayStation there is already a Tour that plays for real money. It’s been going for nearly a year. We have about 40 to 50 members at the moment including 14 of the top 20 ranked players in the TGC WGR.
If anyone is interested in participating please DM me. We play on the old TGC master tempo settings and a tournament every fortnight.

Yeah, real money tournaments won’t work very well for this game in an “Open “ setting. But I actually play this game for money all the time. The difference for me is that I only play my real life buddy online. The stakes ?
4 rds for a grand total of 5 bucks.
Side bets are as follows ( active all 4 rds) Hole in One = 1 dollar Albatross = 1 dollar Eagle = 50 cents Closest to the hole = 25 cents.
So not a lot of money at all, but enough to keep the fun and the interest. We have been doing this now for over a year. We alternate who chooses the course and conditions. Also, money won’t change hands until whoever owes 10 dollars or more lol via e-transfer.
We have a blast doing this.Like I said keeps the fun factor AND the interest to keep playing.

No way I’d play this game for money online in a betting scenario ever. Not a chance. Lol.
Get in the same room with me on the same console and then we can play.
😎
Merry Christmas all 🎄

I applaud the idea, but think it's a can of worm best left unopened unless you have a lot of stuff in place behind the scenes. So many issues from a legal standpoint to guaranteeing fair play, to the console differences, to accessing game data, to monitoring for cheating or people exploiting the game, and so much more, that I think the headaches wouldn't be worth it. You'd almost have to have separate events for each console and maybe even play at a lower difficulty level to have more competitive events, and even then, there would be a significant drop of in ability pretty quickly. Even TGCTours dropped down to pro to increase participation and competitiveness and has never had a Legend difficulty tour, to the best of my knowledge.
Personally, if people want to play for real money, they could donate $5-$10/YEAR to TGCTours to help cover expenses at this site, but very few do (less than 5%, I think). Granted, donating vs playing for real $$$ are not the same, but most people wouldn't stand a chance against the better players if they played for real $$ on a level playing field, especially at a difficulty like Masters or Legend. In my meager opinion, they'd be best served donating that $$$ to a site like this, but to each their own. I wish you the best if you try to get something up and running.

I would put the effort or sponsorship into donations for TGCTours so they don't have to close the doors and shut it down.

I would put the effort or sponsorship into donations for TGCTours so they don't have to close the doors and shut it down. There was a time years ago when EA started cracking down on Madden websites that were selling money plays, schemes and so forth because they were making money off an EA product. Those sites then figured out they could give away their products for free but still make money by selling membership subscriptions to their “community” websites. Not sure if that’s a thing Doyley could legally do with this game or would be willing to look into.

Need to add: would be nice if HB or 2K offered up a little $$ for these guys too. Even if it was just enough to cover the cost of having it.
This community and a lot of its members have done a lot to promote the game ever since TGC1.
