I just got this game a few weeks ago and this is my first golf club game. The course designer is what sold me on TGC. I would appreciate any feedback and play testing on my first course.
The course isn’t meant to be really hard. It’s a 9 hole course that is a small town, low budget feel. I am wanting to space my tees for the 3 club sets. Right now I just finished the rough layout of the holes. There isn’t much green undulation, and it’s missing the polishing features, but its playable. Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am still currently focusing on hole layout and strategy. I hope to start polishing the course soon.
A couple last notes if you play the course. I’d like to know if you can reach the green in one on hole two from the tips with the master clubs (The swampy area will be OB). Also pin position 3 on the par three is on a unintentional steep slope. It’s like skiball right now.
I can upload some photos later.

First of all, welcome to the community. Secondly, I am not a designer but had a little bit of spare time tonight so gave your beta a quick play and thought I would mention a couple of things that stood out to me. The par 3 fourth hole, the trees block most of the green, with a right to left wind, the hole with play unfair. The par five sixth I think, has a bunker splitting the fairway, it plays well but is not visible from the tee, a hazard that comes into play like that should be visible, especially for the true and ultra sim guys. There are another couple of holes were the fairways are not visible from the tee, while blind tee shots can bring a challenge of their own, try not to have to many, and have some sort of sight line as a guide, rather than having a player looking at hilly or bumpy rough. Like I said, I am not a designer but when I am looking at courses for tour, these are some of the things I pay attention to. For a first nine holes though, I can see potential which will only grow as you learn more.

Thank you for taking the time to try the course. On the par 3 I had not thought about the wind effecting the tee shot. I've been playing with no wind, so I should probably add wind for my tests. I like the idea of shaping shots off the tee being rewarding, which is what lead to the layout of that tee as well as some others. I will add in some visibility to the bunker on the par 5; good call there. I had only intended 1 blind tee shot (number 8, with the green on the water), but maybe that is a bad hole to be blind on since it is easy to drive into the water without a draw or cutting the corner which is also blind. Speaking of blind shots, I will be clearing a sight line for the second where you could go for the green. Thanks again!

Ive posted a more recent version of the course. Still a few holes to polish off, but its come a long way since rev1. I did end up switching themes after all. I also added back in a couple bunkers so wont be doing a bunker-less course like I thought about when using Boreal theme. Thanks in advance to anyone who tries it out. Looking forward to some feedback and finishing this course.
Course name: 21435TestR.2 The one without water in the cover photo is most recent.

Be happy to give it a play. I’m a new designer as well and had some success with my first publish. I love designing but my favorite part of TGC is playing and reviewing fellow new designers’ courses. I’ll see if I can get to it tonight. From the pictures it looks good.

I found TestR.4 tonight. I’m guessing that is the most recent version.
Cool retaining wall work. Nice addition of the cart path. Make sure the land on the cart path is smooth as can be though. Some trees are encroaching pretty close to the fairways. I would give all fairways some breathing room and use bunkers and curves to make them challenging.
Also play around with the environment settings. You can do a lot for the visuals by getting some good lighting.

Hi all. Total newbie to this, and extremely intimidated by the quality of the courses you all make. I’m on the course designer Far more than actually playing! I am just finishing my first course that I’d love some feedback and tips on. Also - I’ve watched a lot of Canucks videos (very good), I’ve seen mention of others but I’m struggling to find them. Just published as Elpondo test , feedback and tips very gratefully received (PS4 user if that matters?!) Hope you enjoy, thank you

I’ll send you a message with the review. Canuck’s tutorials are a great place to start. So well done. He’s a great designer and teacher. Post your test course in the Under Construction forum if you haven’t already so others can give feedback and try to attach screenshots of you can.

My first attempt at design and I’ve just realised that almost every hole has a blind shot on it- doh. Making changes throughout. Steep learning curve at the moment

Thanks for taking the time to play a round and for the tips. It could use some breathing room, and ill push some trees back. I use as much generated foliage as I can, but I need to clean it up some. I did try messing with the lighting and clouds for a bit. It can really change the way the grasses look and how well they blend together (heavy rough to no surface grass). I will try to smooth out paths more, but that is a challenge haha.

We will get our quality up as we go. I am also in designer way more than playing. So far I have 60 hours and only played 5 rounds. I will be glad to check out your course as well. I dont think platform matters when it comes to courses.

Thanks Matt. Let me know what you think.
Having read some more threads I don’t think we should be uploading “test” tracks? I now need to figure out how to get screen shots from PS4 onto the forum as I have questions that I’m sure the great designers know the answers to

Easy way I have found to get screens from PS4 to the forum is by uploading them to Twitter, then putting them on here.

I was wondering about posting test courses. I read a couple things that were mixed on the subject. I wish there was a better way to go about testing. I got an imgur account for posting photos here. I think you can upload without an account too.
