A week ago Saturday I had the pleasure of playing a private Donald Ross, Wianno Golf Club in Osterville, MA. Ross redesigned the original 9 and built the second nine in 1919. This was truly a gem start to finish. The weather didn’t cooperate, and I was terrible off the tee, but thoroughly enjoyed this one, wow. My pictures don’t do this one justice, especially given the weather, but here are a few: The par 5 4th heads to the water The par 4 16th ...punchbowl!! The view from behind 18

A friend of mine worked there for years and got to play for free. I wasn't golfing at the time (just picked it back up this season) so I never played it with him. How I wish I could, I've heard it's a superb design. Since it's such an exclusive club (a lot of old, rich folks) it doesn't get a ton of play and is always in great condition. It's like a 20 minute drive for me, I'd kill to play it once. I bet it's starting to look nice now that the weather is getting better here.

It was in very good condition for so early in a rainy coldish year. I would love to play it peak season and if I had half of my game going...ok, even a third of a game...ha!

We got to play Wianno again yesterday, and this year the weather didn't disappoint! And certainly, neither did the course. In amazing condition for this early in the year. The greens were rolling very fast and firm. With the wind and a chill in the air, the course played very tough, but very fun. So good, I wanted to share new pictures given the better light (and camera on new phone). Wish I could have taken more, but we play 'on the clock' to ensure a Pace of Play Policy so that we are welcomed back to such great private courses!
