Yes i know, i am not in the field officially. I played anyway because i love the tournament in real life.
R1: 73 (+1) R2: 69 (-3) R3: 72 (E) R4: 66 (-6) Total: -8
R1 was just awful in every way. I could make a birdie but the rest of the round was filled with bad tempo swings. R2 was similar but i managed to make an eagle on 13 and hole out my 2nd shot on 17.
I will probably play my last two rounds, i just don't know when.
Edit: I played my last two after i posted this and shot the above. Tempo can eff off now and if HB don't do it i will personally fly over to Nova Scotia and do it for them.
I did record my first two rounds but i forgot to turn off the 'Use Device Timestamps' option in my Desktop Audio properties...
Good luck everyone!

62-63-63-60 - 40 under total.
Bogied the first but played damn well from there. Only made one more bogey with a stupid 3 putt @ 10 in Round 3 (about the only putt through 4 rounds i overhit - everything else i was too tentative with).
Not sharp enough on the greens to really contend but an outside chance of a Top 10?
8 under on the Back 9 on Sunday was especially fun

Feels good to be home.
62, 57, 59, 57: -53.
Bit of an inconsistent round 1 and a bogey on 16 in round 4 after sitting -15 thru 15 could sting but hopefully it's enough.

Other than having a PS4, I have no idea how you top guys manage tournaments like this consistently. Pretty sure my -8 thru 2 rounds won't cut it. Yet here I am having to compete in the same tour with these kinds of scores. Not sure why I bother to tee it up each week after all these years of mediocrity and being good enough for the top tours, but not even remotely close to ever compete. Alright, done my whining. I shouldn't expect to really compete as I only play this a couple hours a week excluding tour rounds, and play purely by feel. Wish we had more elite guys streaming their rounds so they could show us how they do things....oh well. Carry on. Great scores.

Looking forward to competing in this (completely unofficially of course) because after all, who doesn't love Augusta (ah hem, I mean Magnolia National). Make sure you check out TGCToursTV: Admin Edition this week on Thursday night at 9:15pm EST on twitch.tv/tgctourstv as Tim, Jeff, Doyley, and I try to make the cut (again, for poops and giggles, since three of us do nothing more than mingle around the cut line on Web). LOL
Also, keep your eye on Twitter this week, as we'll try to do something fun throughout the week for you guys playing the event for real. Just follow @tgctours on Twitter!
Good luck out there!

All I was saying is that the top guys never stream (Sloaner occasionally I think does). I get how the elites are ultra competitive and want full concentration, but I'd love to see a few of them flip a stream on so we could see how they do it. Not like it's hard to stream in 2019. On PS4 it's one or two button presses and 1 minute to make a Twitch account. Anyway, before this gets potentially misconstrued, it's their choice to stream or not and I'm not saying there's any sort of cheating going on...just strange how TGCTours is such a vibrant community with lots of great streamers, but the top guys all seem to keep to themselves and quietly destroy the rest of the field.

Just ruffling some feathers big daddy... 😉 Anyone with a hint of intelligence and independent thought can make their own conclusions... Comes from a place of wanting more transparency, just like you. Until the inaugural TGCT Live Meetup Championship of the Universe sponsored by Ferrero Rocher, the competition’s purity has limitations.

I'd also like more top players to stream. I used to stream a good amount of my tourneys on TGC1 when I was ranked a lot higher. I honestly wouldn't say my results on TGC19 have been exactly elite, but I've played the hell out of this course for years and was pretty prepared for this tournament.

Well, at least there is for me on PC, but I'd have to agree with you when you say it's hard to compete anymore. I practically have to force myself every weekend to play my tournament rounds, other than that I don't even touch the game until then.

Always love the course, but I seem to have struggled to just above the cut line the past three years. Had a slow start, literally. 3 or 4 slow (turbo-charged - lol) downswings in Rd 1. -7 start. After that I got into a rhythm tee to green for the most part, but I never putt better than slightly above average here. Greens are just too tricky. Nice to go in with plenty of course familiarity and just let it FLY! This year I don't think I'll have cut line watching to do (finally!), and I ran all four in a row. If not for the poor back 9 in Rd 1, I had four pretty consistent rounds. Hole #11 had my number all week, though.
Holed out from the fairway on #3 in Round 3 with a full wedge shot and a nice sideways fall into the hole. Came sort-of kind of close to an alby on #2 in Round 2, but just not meant to get my first TGC2019 albatross yet here.
-7 -11 -11 -12 for a -41 and not sure exactly where that goes, but I was shooting for -40 when I started, so I'll take it. That is SOME shooting, theduke21 !!!

I shouldn't expect to really compete as I only play this a couple hours a week excluding tour rounds, and play purely by feel. Wish we had more elite guys streaming their rounds so they could show us how they do things....oh well. Carry on. Great scores. Serious answer. Key word above is "consistently" - I just watched the vid of your rounds yesterday and you had a -9 on TST at Magnolia, I'm certain that will be a top 5 score all week out of hundreds of rounds played. The big difference for you was that your tempo was really good that TST round, seems it takes you 3+ rounds to warm up and get that tempo feel going. You don't need to watch a top player's stream to "see how they do things", you already know enough (notwithstanding incorporating maths and tempo manipulation which would take your game to another level but I appreciate that's not something you're probably interested in or have time for, but in terms of scoring it's most certainly limiting to go by feel alone, and neglecting the gains to be had from tempo manipulation) to score low, but bad tempo ruins birdie opportunities almost every time, and you often get several in your early rounds. There's certainly no big secret beyond basic maths, considering green conditions and a crapload of putting practice (just looked your stats and your long putt is 27.8% in PGA, solid but not competitive and is alone probably costing you a stroke or 2 per round, needs to be at least 30% at PGA level). One thing you're definitely missing out on is the huge advantage to using fast backswings (= slightly early transition, backswing 'tempo' is not about speed but when you make the transition), I don't think I've ever seen you attempt one deliberately. Opens up a world of options for nailing distances and doesn't take that much practice, I'm pretty sure the fast backswing alone is worth at least a stroke a round on average for me personally, it's a godsend to boost distance against head wind or out of the rough. An underrated benefit is that by getting the feel for an early ("fast") backswing, you help cement in your muscle memory the timing for a perfect backswing. For me personally, I'm in a rut primarily as I've been struggling with tempo execution as (and please forgive the shameless brag but it come from a stupid quantity of tinkering, analysis and systematic, methodical practice hours so it's one of the few things I can say pretty confidently) I think I know the intricacies of this game better than 99.9% of players. But my GIR stats on PGA rank me 83rd, i.e. cut-missing territory, and I'd say that's almost entirely down to bad tempos - if my putting takes a turn for the worse I honestly can't see myself staying up here very long. But the times when I get really good tempo, I produce some legitimate monster rounds. Past couple of weeks, mostly playing around 4-5am GMT (which the tinfoil part of me thinks is premium quiet server time, though it may well be placebo), I've had a good half dozen rounds at -17 or better (with 2 x -19s). Yesterday I got the PC leaderboard record on toddfather 's very tough new course for the major comp with a -14. The main theme with those rounds is that my approach tempo was on point. If you've got a spare 15 mins, check out my recent -17 at Dauphin, a short lidar course no doubt but it's definitely not stupidly easy (as the USE crew can confirm as we used it last week). Solid tempo, picking my landing points well and solid putting were all it took. Just minimised errors, easier said than done I know, but when I execute well, the birdies come flocking. The top guys' scores that seem "unattainable" are absolutely no different in that respect. It's not rocket-science, they're just better at reducing the errors by picking their spots, putting well, executing more consistently (especially tempo) and, importantly, doing all this when it matters under the pressure of a PGA event. And yes PS4 tempo is clearly an advantage in that respect as the stats have shown unequivocally, and as Jules' recent PGA win after only a couple of weeks switching to PS4 has shown. Nothing we can do about that though beyond buying PS4s lol. Looking at your record on PGA, you've had 3 top 30s out of 17 events. A top 30 at the stupidly-competitive PGA level, particularly playing on PC, is not to be sniffed at, so you're really not as far off as you think in terms of capability, it's just a matter of consistency.
Edit. Oh yeah, it's the weekly PGA thread, might as well post my event report: I sucked.
