Managed a -3 on my second loop with your Round 2 settings. Eat while you can on the first 5-6 holes, then hold on for the ride. There are not many birdie opportunities over the last 12 holes. That short par 4 with the elevated green is a sucker's play (except for you pros out there). Hit a 5 iron off the tee way out to the right and pitch from a good angle. Fun course if you hate yourself. Highly recommended!Edit - Wow, the Pin 3 very fast East wind evil settings killed me. Even on the front and mucho red on the back.
Thanks for playing - and nice score on Pin 2 in those winds.
LOL @ the bolded line!!!

Or go even madder - play pin 3, east wind, and make it Very High. That's probably the toughest pinset.
I started off well with the above conditions Great looking curvy course, which was mostly fun (notwithstanding a few cases where I was just flopping or chipping back and forth over the green, otherwise all bad scores were almost entirely down to my errors, especially judging wind, my GIR was 38% lol) but I think it helped that the result didn't matter. If this gets put on PGA, there'll be broken homes as well as broken controllers and monitors I reckon
Another ace already! These guys are good!
I take it you missed 11 down left then? And a couple of splashes at 15 / 16?
Glad you 'mostly' enjoyed it Larry

This was a nice course but i am not a fan of the difficulty. That isn't to take away from the great looks of the course at all. Yes, i know it's designed for the U.S. Open and i think so far is the best option in terms of difficulty. (although my tempo made it even more difficult) In my round i played with Very High winds although they were only ever at 13/14mph which is odd. I made 4 birdies, 4 bogeys and 1 triple on the short 8th. (73 +3) Good job on the course!
Congrats on finishing Dan - I nearly tagged you in the OP, as I knew you were playing all these courses and that this course would press all your buttons and piss you off big time!
The 8th is indeed a pain in the ass!
Thank you for playing - even if you didn't enjoy it.
Of course i enjoyed it buddy! The difficulty just made me angry though but what doesn't

Well, played this tonight and started off -3 thru 3, then couldn't hold on, and then raged on hole 17. If that's what you were going for, you accomplished it. ;-)
Sorry Eric - hope your controller is ok?
17 is a strange one to rage on - I'm guessing pin 3 (back-ish right) - and a few shots sliding down the hill into the gully?
The intention was to produce something where a par score over 4 rounds (with the strong winds) would actually be a decent score (even for PGA) - doing that means that it always has the potential for 'driver off the green' moments

Rob.
I don't think we have met before so I am going to say this as lightly and politely as possible.
You are a psychopath.
I loved every second of my 15 over par.

Really enjoyed this course.
Wish most courses were like this in terms of difficulty.
Loved the no 1st cut.
Tried pin 1 on the high winds/south direction.
Great design. Some of your pins were fantastic. #15 being my favorite.
Finished at -3 which is crazy bad. But i liked the torture.
5 star for sure!

-3 on a first (and probably only!) playthrough in tournament conditions is a really solid round - for reference, B.Smooth13 shot -4 in his game with gdog (although they didn't enjoy it quite as much as you!) And I equalled my 'personal best' on pin 1 at -5 on Friday (but remember I know exactly where NOT to miss!)
Thanks for the play
Glad you enjoyed it

Just kidding ya.
I watched the full playthrough on Saturday - missed all your comments re the (infamous) 7th, as Twitch had muted you at that point (I assume due to your music in the background)
Thanks for both of you playing it.

Here's my playthrough Robin. Very tough course that really penalizes poor play, which is certainly appropriate for a major. Good luck in the contest!

Played this again. Missed a bunch of putts inside 15 feet and was able to muster a -8 from pin 4 tips.
Had a -7 on front then took a trip to fast downswing city. Smh. #11 or #12 is the toughest par 4 in the competition. Can't figure that hole out!

This course is just incredible. I can't stop playing. I love the links style with little-to-no bunkers. All of the collection areas are well done. Solid shots are rewarded and slightly off shots are punished, sometimes severely. Due to the length of the course and no first cut of rough you had better drive the ball in the fairway or it's effectively a half shot penality. It's great fun aiming for a spot on the green to play for a certain bounce/hill/roll. The multi-tiered greens (such as 7, I believe) are exacting with having to land the ball on one level at just the right spot to get it to stop on another level.
I've only broken par in 2 of 12 rounds. For a lot of these rounds I just used default conditions rather the ramped up US Open conditions. If you haven't played the course yet I recommend going with default for your first lap.

Thanks for the play Mike - and glad you enjoyed both the course and the difficulty.
I'm thinking about releasing a 'Members' version, with much softer and slower greens, and many of the pins moved to somewhat friendlier spots. Plus the 12th and probably the 7th changed to relatively easy par 5's, taking par to 72. Just need to get around to a couple of final playtest rounds though...
