Paragon Golf & Country Club:Nestled deep in the heart of the Canaan Valley, Tucker County, West Virginia; Paragon Country Club is home to an immaculately tendered 18 hole championship style golf course. Centred around the twin lakes of the valley basin it's not long before the outbound trail criss crosses the western natural water hazard before giving way to the relative safety of holes 8 & 9 returning you to the plush clubhouse ready to negotiate the back 9 which meanders around the eastern waters prior to the final stretch culminating in full view of the spectating galleries. Theme: Boreal. Atmospheric Conditions: Late spring, mid morning, minimal cloud cover. Holes: 18. Approximate Length: 7350 yards. Par: 72 (4 x par 3, 10 x par 4, 4 x par 5). Fairways: Firm. Greens: Firm. Greens speed: Fast @ 173 feet putt rating. Tees: Black 7332 yards. …...... Gold 7145 yards .…..... Blue 6964 yards. …....... Red 6772 yards. Crowds for societies: Restricted to stands. m.twitch.tv/videos/367413612?t=15sFor a course that plays as easy as it did, I truly was never bored. I'm not sure if it was intended or not, but I was able to overpower just about all of the fairway hazards, which is quite fun. -18

Cheers Thomas... great round.... well played. Thanks for your kind comment & glad you enjoyed your round. I'm guessing most of the PGA players - especially top 150 like you will rip it to shreds I tend to design for the middle tour groups; Web, CC-Pro & noticed the ghost you were playing (Scobb) managed a more realistic score of 2 under for his CC-B skill level so, I'm happy with that.

Hah yes Sam, we will rip everything to shreds. I forgot to say though, I play all the entries as they're released and so far to me, from a playable for everyone standpoint I think your course is the frontrunner. Golfers of all skills will find your course to be enjoyable. That's a tough thing to do too, because most courses that are easyish I get bored and kind of disconnect, and actually shoot worse than I would if it were harder. I can't shoot 18 under on a course that is not engaging, so you really have something to be proud of in my opinion. This course could fit in any tour and not cause a single whinge!

Sam those pics look great. I couldn’t get the sun low enough in my sky to get that look and if I did it really changed it in a bad way. I learnt a lot though and know how the themes that aid this kind of look.
Good luck in the contest mate.

If you're interested here's the environmental & atmospheric breakdown at Paragon: Time set = 10.50 am Orientation = -143.0 Inclination = 50.0% Weather = Default (added 0.4 cloud cover) Keep in mind - there's a lot of players that don't like the sun too low though so your'e right to point out "in a bad way" above.

Great course Simon, only managed 2 under for my round but will take that with the 16mph winds I lucked into. As per usual your design was beautiful.

Scenery/Outlook
Looks great from the 1st tee and the surrounding areas
Fairways
Natural shapes and done very well, has a goof feel and flow
Width good ample room for all conditions
Good variety of designs and shapes and elevations
Nice contours, love the uneven lies, makes you think and look at your feet before you shoot and flows very well
Touches of Strategic design and not much penal and like the risk reward
Found a few Narrow bands of semi rough- Remember the Mower man principle
Greens Good decent size greens ,tricky front pis for a challenge, love the green contours
Being larger greens will leave player with some big putts so good challenge
Pin positions are fair allowing for rollout to pins
Slopes near and surrounding pin locations very fair and reasonable
Fairly good run off areas attached to greens for errant shot-
Greens sloping is good/fair around pin locations and adds for challenging putts
Greens should play well in all conditions
Pins
Good pin positions, no probs
Bunkers
Well done and good skills experimenting with your new techniques of making them more organic and natural Depth ok, reasonably smooth surrounding the bunkers and decent variety of sizes and shapes Found a few areas as shown with pics supplied to have a gander at
Much better Organic/natural shapes now-keep it up and much much improved
Layout/Design
Flows well , holes connect together fairly well
Good mix of holes
Really like the uphill elevations, love the fact that you made more uphill elevations, makes it harder but you get some backspin too ,get tired of seeing lots of common downhill holes, so well done on that
6th- like the option off the tee, left layup or right longer but tougher, love holes like this
9th hole-Just great,Shapes and the Bunkers are sweet as
10th-Like the short par 4,s for variety, adds bit excitement/reward
14th- Off Tee,have to shape your shot and uphill-love it,thank god I see more of uphill on this course than downhill
15th- Nice contour on fairway to guide the ball right off the slope and down onto the flats and 2nd elevated shot
17th- Good par 3 with added front bunker
And 18th is good hole to finish off a good course
Texture/Blending
Blends very well, and looks nice and natural, nothing is out of place and easy on the eyes
Planting/Objects
Done well and looks very realistic and natural
The sunken rocks are great feature
Your Rock work is always pretty good
Pics Supplied via pm and Google drive for areas that i found for me were outa place , but nothing much really
Summary
Your improved spline shaping with your Bunkers and fairway shapes has lifted course play to a much better look/feel, so exceptional skills here. Much better shapes and curves now, more natural looking Natural Feel and playability, course flows well and sits very good on this plot of land
One of best courses to date i think you have created
Thanks Sam
