I am a new designer.
On my most recent beta version that Eric is going to look at for me, I set my fairway firmness up almost all the way. When I uploaded the course, the little firmness ball bouncing off the fairway thingy said "SOFT"...
I went back to double check the file in the designer and the fairway firmness WAS turned all the way up.
Has anyone else had this issue?
What am I doing wrong...? (it has to be me)
Thanks in advance,
Dwight

I have the same problem. Firmness and roll all the way up, publishes soft. But it doesnt play soft. I think I'm missing something...
This course is Highlands. I published another course, but didnt have the same issue. That one was Autumn.

I'm having the same problem with a highlands theme course as well. Hopefully there is a fix for this.

I think it's just a display issue on the course conditions screen.
Best test is to play a local round on your course with no wind. Set the fairway firmness to default and hit a drive.
Then start a new round with the fairway firmness set to SOFT and compare the rollout distances.

Yes there is an issue around using 0.69 firmness, it does not match the display on the course selection screen, it was a trick back in TGC2 when there were only 3 static options, you could make a firm course show as medium (I did this on original TGC2 Augusta), of course HB has never cared to fix.

i'm having the same problem(no highland theme) but with opposite setting: i would like to have a soft fairway but the default setting still saying firm, i moved to 0 or 1 but nothing... i tried to move even the rolling thinking the issue was about the combination of softness and high rolling... btw yes, if u change parameters the ball effects are differents... but probably the display will make players get in fault reading it...and that is annoying

There are a number of themes that 'default' to certain terrain firmness settings on publish - they should be fine in the designer, though. Off the top of my head, Highlands, Autumn and Harvest default to soft, Tropical to about medium and I think the others are fine. Frustrating and hopefully it'll be sorted in the new game. Until then, just pop a note in your course thread when you publish it.

Have had similar issues but could it be due to rough/heavy rough firmness? Does it average out all terrain eg firm fairways but soft surrounds?
Might be wrong with this but bumping the terrain firmness up before play sets the whole course rock hard?

Did anyone ever figure out a fix? I'm going through the same ordeal with Balamory right now.

The designer's firmness bar for fairway doesn't even go above firm settings for default. Kinda annoying that I can't have very firm as defaults ever
