I understand a longer swing where you smack the plastic is going to be acceptable, but it's also unreliable with the fishtails. But enough I said. I don't want to be sent to that Habs exile place I hear about with all my rantings. I missed this one! He's quite the celebrity is ol Habs!

Going back to this tournament. I'm quickly realizing that with these conditions, there are a few holes like 4 and 8 in the first round that if you can birdie you are gaining a shot on the field with only like 12 birdies between the two holes. Beyond that -10 is quite doable but where I see the person winning this will be who can get those eagles on the par 5s. Leader had two in round one and is ahead of those that had only one. In round two 3 of the 4 are easily reached in two with the fourth pretty damn close with two perfect shots. So I think this tourney will come down to the one with the most eagles. I agree with this. You can see first place has 6 eagles right now. By the way he eagled all 4 par 5's in round two!! Great shooting twoplanetsaway. I've been struggling all season so I'm very pleased to be making the cut For once xbox is well represented after two rounds. I hope it's a sign of things to come.

The struggle is real on xbox. Apparently I've still come up 3 shots short, but at least I know it is indeed possible to go -50 on our system in tournament play which is good for morale. We're basically playing a different game after having a look at the swing statistics posted around these parts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've seen there aren't really any Xbox players that have seen an upturn in their form with the new game comparatively to the last, although for me the recent update has led to better shooting. Conversely, it would seem that a disproportionate number of PS4 players have miraculously gotten 10 shots better per tourney. The pattern is pretty consistent as this point. It would be pretty cool if someone conducted an experiment where they post their results for a tournament on both systems to see how big the discrepancy is over time for a strong player. Could be an interesting case study on the topic. Hopefully a later update will level the playing field, but for now that's the best I can do. If it's not enough, then it's not enough. But I'll take on the challenge and I hope all my Xbox brethren light it up if I don't!

But I'll take on the challenge and I hope all my Xbox brethren light it up if I don't! To be honest I don't know why the swing is so different on the varying consoles out there. I haven't seen anything from HB on the subject and only seen the data from our own forms that show the number of perfect swings on PS4 is nearly double that of the Xbox. Mouse swing was in 2nd place but that was before the patch. From the people that I have talked with using XBox is that they feel that the swing is never 'automatic' for them, they have to concentrate on it every time, much like the mouse is but those on PS4 it seems a bit more automatic to get the tempo down right.
I've just finished a practice round and my tempo was all over the place which is how it has been since the patch. I have to really concentrate on each shot. I can take 5 practice swings and get 5 different tempo combinations. If it weren't for my putting in round one my 77% GIR would not have resulted in a -12 but more like a -8 or so. I'm glad to see Xbox users are finding more success. All three platforms should be as equal as possible but that has never been the case. For the longest time each platform had its own little quirks that made them better in different areas than the other but since TGC 1, in my opinion, PS4 has been the most consistent when it comes to the game playing more consistent. There were a couple patches that threw things off but overall there is a reason people like Brad moved from PC to PS4. The game is just easier there.

Hi all, finally managed to get my rounds in after a couple of weeks off. Lots going on in my life at the moment. I played my best 2 rounds of the season. I think I might have been 2nd after round 1. I'm currently in around 14th after 2 at the moment. My putting was unbelievable. I only missed 1 putt I thought I had a chance of making. It makes such a difference.
Anyway the main reason for posting is to clarify what happened to me on the 10th hole of round 2. I ended up on the green but way short with a huge tier to go up. The fringe of the green was almost on my line. I didn't think that warranted using a flop shot so I putted. It didn't make it up to the top tier and I ended up further away and with the fringe in my line. I flopped from there and putted in for my only bogey of the two rounds. I hope everyone is in agreement that this was the correct thing to do but please report me if you feel I've not followed the rules correctly. I just wanted to be transparent about it. Good luck everyone.

Good luck everyone. Yeah #10 in round two you can end up with fringe or worse between you and the hole. I've been there a few times in practice. The only rule is that if the line to MAKE the putt is impeded by something other than green you may chip/putt/pitch/flop ect. When in doubt you can always take a picture to back up what your argument was for taking the non-putt route. Normally it isn't a big thing if it is super obvious.

Round two in the books. Only eagled 1 of the 4 par fives tho I had eagle shots on 3 of them so 1 for 3. My shots were much better but putting lacked. Missed 4 putts inside 10 feet that just lipped out including one of those eagle putts. Considering that I was a lot closer to the holes and hit more GIR, I really felt my -13 easily could have been -15, -16 or better. Putts just didn't fall.

Yeah that automatic feel is extremely fleeting in this one. Once you seemingly figure out the tempo, something happens to completely screw with your head. In a tournament where I was lights out for long stretches, I swear I had about 4 very fasts lol. What kills you is that crazy added distance to fasts and now slow downswings on your approaches. It can be very irritating to see a line near the center of the cone for just about every shot, only to miss the green with regularity. A simple push or pull would do just fine. But the extra 10 yards can really drive you mad on the courses we play because they demand precision. Even when you hit it correctly, you can still miscalculate because this game is hard enough as it is. When you factor in that every green is reinforced with cement and we are usually playing in or nearby a tornado on this tour, I can understand how people can just switch systems.

Practising round 3 and oooh there are some tight pins out there. Definitely a few holes putting the ball in the center and going for the 18-25 foot putt might be the best option rather than go for a great shot and end up in trouble.
Concerning the slow downswing, yeah that is my biggest headache right now. If the extra distance doesn't kill a birdie chance the extra 5 yards it pushes the ball to the right so it just hits the edge of the green and rolls down 15 yards away, certainly does. I used to be amazed at the number of practice swings I'd see people make in TGC 2 before hitting the ball. In this game I fully understand it. With the mouse I really have to push the downswing pretty fast to get that 'perfect' tempo and of course it is then a fine line before I get a Fast downswing.
Not saying that any of this is impossible, just more difficult and I think that is a good thing. I read threads where people are saying "This game is so easy" and obviously their flick swings or whatever they are using is now automatic and they don't even have to think about the swing and just do the math for the distance. That is how it was for me in TGC 2 but not here. I am not sure it will ever be that way for me but that is okay. When I do shoot a good round it really does feel like I've earned it.

32 putts in round 3!! No wonder I parred everything that's just sssshhhhiiiiitttt That's even worse than me! Apart from the two first rounds this week my putting is so bad. I'm almost bottom of the seasons stats of putts per hole (1.561). You're at 1.403. I don't often 3 putt, i just always miss putts other people make most of the time. I don't know if the in-game stat for proximity to the hole are correct but if it is my putting is even worse than I thought it was. I am something like 9th in that stat for the tour this season!!

32 putts in round 3!! No wonder I parred everything that's just sssshhhhiiiiitttt Turn the grids off mate!! You'll probably be better!! Seriously, you could leave them on for chipping and fairway lies, off for the greens. Get to the green, change to your wedge, quick look, back to the putter and go!

Third round in the books. Front nine I felt like I couldn't miss a putt, draining everything including an eagle. Second nine still hitting good but the 15-25 footers that were falling on the front didn't go so I couldn't finish out with a -18 like I wanted. Settled for -15 with another eagle. Kinda disappointed in that back nine. (Do I sound like blueorfe yet?) Overall best round I've shot on that course and I honestly felt my distances pretty good. Putting was simply lights out. -40 through 3. I know Hiroto shot a great last round so going to have to shoot really well again. Looking for a top 10!
