I can't believe it playing in the Discovery Oregon Open I shot a first round 56 -16 best round ever.i was thinking here we go maybe a top 10 finish. started round 2 the next day 13 to 19 mph winds shoot a 72 even par and had to sink a 10 foot putt on the 18th hole for par to shoot even. right now looks like another missed cut by 2 strokes. well theirs always next week. has anybody had a 16 stroke difference from one round to another ?

First tournament for me this week shot 60, 62. Hopefully might make the cut.
Think the problem with such a difference in scores is all down to the courses being to easy, it all comes down to the conditions and who holes the most putts. Doesn't really come down to skill.

Pretty sure I was -19 and would have made the cut if I remembered to submit my scores.
The problem was I did my first 2 rounds on Friday night and you can't submit your score until Monday... Thus I forgot.

Second tournament in a row I MC with one shot due to a error-prone first round.
Would have climbed 60 places with one less bogey in the first round last week, and looks to be the same this. Both times I've averaged 5 strokes better in round 3 & 4 with higher winds.
Conclusion: I play better in windy conditions (or just need to start practicing the courses more to avoid blowing up holes in the first round)

While I agree the courses are very easy, I wouldn't say skill doesn't play a part. If you can hit the ball within 10-15 feet of the hole, you can 1 putt 90% of the time, but it takes skill to do that.

Yes there is skill involved, but on this course all Par 4s are easy to hit in 2 if not in 1, the only Par 5 there is any trouble on is the 15th I think, the one with the water at the front of the green, even that can be hit in two with a well placed drive. My point is I'd much rather play ridiculously hard course where the winner is 10-20 under rather than people missing the cut after shooting 17 under.

This course I would expect to see on Champions Tour. Web.com should have medium - hard difficulty courses for sure.

Exactly, if I miss the cut it should be because I've missed a couple of greens in regulation, didn't get up and down. Not because I only holed 2 out of the 5 eagle putts I had lol.

Having played both in tournaments, I think flip flopping this course with Redemption as a tour stop on the Champions tour would have been the right call. But it's early going, they will get this stuff all figured out in time. Maybe we're all just better than they thought we were going to be!

I would just like to say that I saw your best bad shot and I dont know that I would call that bad. That is exactly how I would have played that shot! Anyone can hit a green it takes skill to bounce it off a rock and put it to 12 feet or however close it was! lol

has anybody had a 16 stroke difference from one round to another ? Not 16 strokes, but 12 strokes at the Vancouver Classic a couple of weeks ago when I shoot a 61 in R2, followed by an aweful 73 in R3.
