Is there a beginner skill level tour you would recommend? Best option here is to do Q-School with Pro clubs and then start on CC-G (assuming you don't shoot well enough to land higher) and likely demote to CC-Z which is our lowest skill level tour available (must be demoted to it). Thanks, Doyley. Can you also help with this? I finished Q school last week and was placed in CC-F. This week I went to play the CC-F tournament and then got an email saying I had a clubset violation and was DQ'd. It looks like I played the beginner tour tournament instead of the CC-F tournament. Both are in the same Society (CC-Am) and have the same tournament name. How do I join the CC-F tournament and not the beginner tournament in this society? The beginner tour checkbox is unchecked in my profile and I am using pro clubs.

I'm relatively new to the game and new to TGC as well. Did the web.com tour offline in career mode on easy with beginner clubs and shot around E to -4 consistently throughout (after a +19 my first time out and working things out) lol. My first two rounds on the PGA tour I bumped up to pro clubs and medium difficulty and I'm struggling. Finished +13 and +17 and I have some trouble hitting the ball straight. Time will bring improvement naturally. My question is however where do you suggest I begin? Do the beginner tournaments with beginner clubs or Q-School as mentioned above?

This is just my opinion, but I think the answer depends on what you are looking for long term. Beginner Club tour is not really designed for beginner players. It just uses beginner club set. So you have a few people there that have played at the top level of the game, but for one reason or another, are using beginner clubs now to compete. So, if you play there don't expect to compete at a high level right away. There are aspects of this game to understand which I think are important. Namely, how do things such as elevation, wind, lie, etc affect your shot? Nothing wrong in my opinion with dialing in your understanding of those using beginner clubs and competing while doing it. The only issue would be, once you went to a different club set, you'd need to re-learn distances as it applies to roll-out and loft/de-loft control. Putting is the same throughout, but obviously more forgiving for non-straight-line putts on beginner. If you have the goal of advancing through the flights, it would be a good idea to dive right in to the flight q-school places you in and start to learn that way. You'll take some lumps, but with some practice and experience it will all come together. Good luck - hopefully that helps in some way.

I think I lean towards just taking my lumps with the pro clubs. So there is no real downside to being really bad in Q-School for a while? Again, I'm completely new to this. Also a silly question I know but is the only difference between beginner and pro clubs the sensitivity of your swing? i.e. a swing that isn't perfectly straight is less forgiving with pro clubs v. beginner clubs?

No downside. The flights are designed for advancement so as you improve you hopefully move up. Sometimes you can end up fluctuating between flights until you settle in to your natural skill area. Differences with beginner and pro clubs are forgiveness with tempo and wider sensitivity to a “straight” shot. But beginner clubs are penalized with distance and spin. Sometimes for a challenge I see if I can make the cut on the PGA event with beginner clubs. I’m am probably at 25% success on that. So I think it’s good to isolate beginner clubs because they play significantly different.

Made the mistake of using Pro Clubset my first ever round on the BCT yesterday, understandably DQ'ed from this weeks tournament but I have received close to 30 emails, still continuing this morning, regarding clubset violation, how do I make it stop?!?
