Never been a fan of links courses but this one has always been fun. With the winds in hurricane mode I honestly have no idea how I will do this next week. I've played this course a few times and have shot a respectful -6 but have also been +5. Putting is going to be a premium with these severely undulating greens where a 6 foot putt can break 8 different ways.
Wish ya all well.

Started out 65/61 for the first two rounds, for -14 overall. Pretty happy with that given the wind, although I missed a bunch of putts by inches. Started the third round, was -4 through 8, then hit a massive hook off the tee on 9, put my second shot in the bunker in front of the green, hit a nice flop out of the bunker, then missed a 6 foot par putt. So I'm going to stop there for now.

I wasn't looking forward to this, and I'm glad it is over with. Speed golfed all 4 rounds. I'll gladly take my strike and move on. Great course, but has never fit my eye or my game. -4 at the cut, and -10 total.

Good luck all. I promise next week is easier! Blame Mother Nature on this one (or you can always #BlamePablo).

Good point. There will certainly be some high scores in the conditions.

-3 -9 -5 -7 for a -24 total. Should easily make the cut and hopefully get a 2nd consecutive top 20. Wind was bad but really liked the course. The real life weather is a nice addition to the tours this year. Good luck

Guess there will be some moaning, but it’s the same conditions for all. I like it, every birdie here has to be earned. Going to be interesting to see where the cut line will be, and wouldn’t be surprised to see it around the 2 under mark. Depends how much damage is done in that brutal round 1.
Just think our schedulers should develop a thick skin, I think the vast majority are quite happy with all the different setups. Ignore the moaners and keep it real!

R1 is complete.
After a missed 4 foot birdie putt on the first I expected the worst.
It didn’t go that way thankfully and I put together a solid round. Only blemish on the card was a bogey on 17 where a very slow pitch shot put me in serious trouble.
Really enjoyed the course. Conditions are tough but I think it’s perfect for the top tours. Battling for birdies and saving pars is more fun than shooting -20 and maybe missing the cut. Just my opinion.
Good luck everyone. R1 isn’t easy.

Just my opinion I totally agree with you. I would much rather deal with the wind and be happy about birdies than what they are shooting on the PGA. Trying to compete with -52 thru 3 rounds doesn't sound like fun

Started back up with a fast downswing off the tee on 10 and a missed 8 foot par to drop back to -2 for the round.
Ended up scraping together a 64, could have been better but I finished pretty strong with birdies on 15-17.
Started the fourth round with 2 birdies, then burned the edge on 3 and lipped out from 13 feet on 4. Ended up in the bunker with a fast downswing going for the green on 5, but hit a nice flop and birdied from 6 feet. Fast downswing on my approach on 6 and a shaky chip but I made a tough 9 foot par. Hit my tee shot on 7 long and putted off the green, but my chip actually went left of the hole, curled, and dropped in on the back side for par. Had another horrendous approach on 8 but chipped well over the bunker and parred. Missed a 10 foot birdie on 9. Another fast downswing on my approach on 10 left me with a 19 foot birdie which I missed. Stuck my approach on 11 to 5 inches. Was a bit short of making the green on 12 and parred, then sank a 10 footer for birdie on the 500 yard 13th and a 6 footer for birdie on the par 3 14th. 2-putt for birdie from the fringe on 15. My thumb slipped on the drive on the 16th but my slow downswing cancelled out my hook shot line and my approach gave me a 6 foot birdie. Shanked a flop on 17 and had to settle for par. Hit my approach on 18 a bit left but got a nice kick and finished the round with a 5 foot birdie.
So, 65/61/64/61 for a total of -29. Pretty happy with that on this course and with these conditions.

I was just happy to be under par (-3) for the first two rounds in those conditions. The slightest miss off the tee and the ball goes sailing into the heavy rough...which was impossible to hit the green from with around 65% power and hurricane winds in your face. I'm even thinking about busting out the "punch" shot the next two rounds for the heck of it.

Ended up with -13. I simply don’t get how anybody is in the -30 range on this course. It was setup nice and I had fun on it but I played about as well as I could on Xbox and I am getting beat by 20? I don’t get it. If this continues you probably won’t see me around again.

This course will identify the best ball strikers with all the potential floaty wayward shots in the wind. I hope I make the cut at -3 because I played the weekend at -16 for -19 total albeit in much easier conditions. Hey, I fought back to 2nd place (out of 7 people so far) on my XBox console leaderboard.

Played all 4 rounds last night, -6, -4 to open up, which should make the cut, then my putter got hot and finished-11, -10 for a -31 total. Certainly not enough to win, but should be a very respectable finish. 😎
