Fer cryin' out loud, this is NOT the club debate thread! BACK to gawlf...
Played much better in round 2. Only 2 bogeys, my first tour eagle and a -4 67.
Only gets me to -4 thru 36 holes, but hey it's a start.
ONward!

Master Clubs still scare me, but if you keep sharing your adventures here, you might persuade me to go for it soon... Best wishes, Frans

Using Master clubs is the closest thing to my real golf game. I have to scramble on just about every hole just to save par lol. Have you ventured ahead and played any practice rounds on Zilker Park? I'm curious what other people think about the course. First couple of rounds I was even par. The last round I finished at -4. Wade

Rd 3
Regression! Two bogeys and birdie for an outward +1, a double and a bogey with a birdie on the last to "save" +2 back.
-1 thru 36. Can't avoid demotion marks this way, even if the beginner clubbers were gone.
Onward!

Wade I've played a few rounds there as I've skipped Steamshovel completely this week. Almost every hole at Zilker has differing options off the tee, wide fairways, different ways to approach the greens that change with every different pin position. It's a fantastic course that rewards forethought planning and execution. And I'm rubbish at it.

Round 4 was mildly better than round 3, but only just.
Tripled the second and had to fight back all the way. Finished the front at +2.
On the bright side I did manage to birdie 18 for the fourth straight round. Level on the back.
Finished +1 for the event. I did nip Dave Clark by one, so that was a positive. But only just.
Onward!

use to be CC-A player and moved to master clubs. Wow the tempo thing is so much different with master clubs 2 or 3 bad shots kills a good round but i am going to stay with them and see if i can move up. good luck to all in this flight!

Wade Hi Wade, Well, I practiced Zilker Park yesterday and shot -4 twice, feeling I could shoot better with some better putting. Today, I played all four rounds of the tournament this week and the first round I was -3 with only a few holes left and then... I ended up plugged in a bunker... two shots to get out but going over the green and rolling down to near the water... two more shots to get back on the green. Ended the first round +2! Shot -7, -5, -6 in the next three rounds to end up -16. Quite a disappointment after last week. Do I like Zilker Park? No... Ah well, still had fun trying to restore some dignity after that first round and played okay; my putting just really needs to get better because I had at least a dozen lip outs over the four rounds. Frans Hi Frans, thanks for the update. Which club set did you use for the tournament? I was practicing with Pro clubs for Zilker Park. I actually shot one practice round at -14. Other rounds were -7 thru -9. So I decided to play with Pro clubs. First round in the tournament -4. Then R2 I shot -4. I was so ticked that I switched back to Master clubs lol. Round 3 I shot -3 and then closed it out with a -2. I ended up with a -13 for the tournament. There seems to be no real difference for me with Pro clubs or Master clubs. I seem to have the occasional Very Fast or Slow with either club set. The issue I am having is my short game and putting. It's either on or way off, lol. If I shoot about the same with either set I might as well stay with the Master set and learn how to play with them. Oh well, back to the driving range lol. Wade

I am going to stick with them for a while. My drives are 95% straight and perfect tempo, but pitches and chips not nearly that consistent yet. Once I manage to get those straight and perfect tempo most of the time, I will start practicing Master again and see how that goes. I might use them for the promotion event next week - if I get in.

Thought about turning the green grids on for my CC rounds to feel that I’ve got a better chance of being competitive. Call me a glutton for punishment but kept everything TST style and then turned putter marker off. I don’t know at least for me, I get a bit anxious when I see the marker and thinking ok is it one more press this way or that way. Then putt and tell myself yup you had it where it was at. With it off personally it’s more of a “feel” couple with the green reading.
Spoiler alert* First two rounds struck the ball decent. But couldn’t keep the momentum going as a few bogeys here and there prevented me from putting in better scores. -7 thru R1/R2.
Final two rounds probably struck the ball from tee to green best that I have in awhile with master clubs. Dealt with the winds much better than previous weeks. Still tough to see the breaks on the short ones and could’ve been a little lower with some birdie chances that I didn’t read right. R3 -7 and R4 -8 for a Total of -22 for Week 3.
Played my TST rounds before this and didn’t play well at all for those. Just super stoked to put together some good golf for this week. I hit it all fairways in one round finally! Good luck all this week!

I use both sets. I play a practice round with ME with one set and ME as a Guest with the other set. Whoever wins those are the clubs I play. 50/50 so far. Pretty much course dependent. This week Master, last week Player the week before Master.
Why not use BOTH to your advantage.

C'MON FOLKS! NOT FOR CLUB DEBATES!!!
Now, on to gawlf at Zilker.
I am an embarrassment to Masters club players.
Zilker is nothing but fairways, yet I found rough a few times. More importantly, I cannot play well enough to succeed.
5 bogeys, 2 birdies. +3. Vomit.
Sigh.
Onward!

Even par after R1. I was -2 after 16 holes in R1, but a 63-yard pitch on 17 only went 59 yards and I ended up against the front face of the deep bunker in front of the green. I couldn't get it out of the bunker on my third shot and I missed my bogey putt.
Birdie putt on 18 burned the edge.
I hope it gets better from here. Too many burned edges all day.
I guess my new goal this week should be to avoid getting any demotion marks. <sigh> :-)

played two rounds -10 overall' I too burned the edges of about 8 holes, my rounds could have been so much better. Did not like the course thought I was playing Mario golf when I first Teed off lol. Wish TGC would give us some real life courses to play, so at least I would have an excuse for my poor rounds....
