Apparently some magic happened and I found a swing last night and now I'm sitting -20 through 3 rounds. I still have yet to finish round 4 because I needed to go watch the Steelers (priorities, yanno?)
Hopefully magic strikes again the next time I pick up the sticks.

Nice shooting through 3 rounds! You're one better than me at -19. R4 didn't go as well for me as the previous 3. Not awful, but not great, either.

Ok, I had to satisfy my curiosity, I just played back to back to back rounds on Steamshovel with the 3 different club sets. I used the same weather/green settings for each round. I played consecutively so I would be in the same swing groove so to speak. I wanted to see what the stroke difference would be with my skill level. Here are the results. The biggest difference with Master clubs for me was the inaccuracy of the approach shots and hitting P/P on chips/pitches and flops. Of course with approach shots being so inaccurate I had to attempt much longer putts and less birdies. I know this isn't news to the seasoned veterans but I thought it was Interesting to compare the differences. Even though I scored worse with Master clubs it actually felt rewarding to hit it close to the pin. Just thought I would share the results with fellow CC F-rs.
Beginner (-14) Bogey free round
Pro (-13) Bogey free round
Master (-6) One bogey

Beginner (-14) Bogey free round Pro (-13) Bogey free round Master (-6) One bogey Hi Wade, So, what club set will you use for Steamshovel? And what clubs will you put in your bag? I'm asking because I made the mistake of switching to Beginner for the first CC-F tournament - after having used Master Clubs for Q-school - and I really did not enjoy that at all. Because it is virtually impossible to not hit it straight and perfect tempo, I started playing speed golf and completely lost focus and my rounds 3-4 were significantly worse than rounds 1-2. So, I am going to switch back to Masters for Steamshovel, or maybe I should try Pro first? And I am still doubting which clubs to put in my bag as well; used long irons for Masters and hybrids for Beginner - not quite sure what to do now. Frans

Frans Hi Frans, I have been trying to settle in on a set of clubs since Q school. I want it to be somewhat competitive, challenging and fun at the same time. I have been practicing Steamshovel with Master clubs and I am leaning hard to using that set. When I played with beginner clubs it felt like robo golf and I actually missed a short putt for birdie. I should have been (-15). I got into the speed golf mode and lost focus. Let me say that I am not knocking anyone that uses any set of clubs. I think people should use what makes if fun for them. I read somewhere on TGCTours that irons are easier to loft or deloft so my club set is D/2W/1I/3I/5I thru LW and putter. Let me know what you decide to go with. Wade

Wade Hi Wade, Well, also based on some advise I got at the Driving Range, where I posted a question about which clubs to put in the bag, I decided to go for: DW, 2W, 2H, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, GW, SW, LW, putter Like you, I practiced two rounds at Steamshovel, one using Master and one using Pro, with fast greens, moderate terrain and green firmness: Master -4 Pro -8 I left 4-5 shots out there in both rounds, because I cannot putt (yet), but I enjoyed both rounds a lot, and much more than with using Beginner clubs. It is much easier to focus and it is just more fun for me. So, now all I have to do is decide on Master or Pro... still find that a difficult decision, because I like to be somewhat competitive as well, but I really do like the feeling of "yes, I did it" when I pull of a long straight drive or difficult shot in Master. Congrats to everyone with promotion marks and to Brent Peacock for the win. I finished in the top 50%, which I guess is better than the bottom 50%. Skipping the tournament this week; just not that fond of the Steamshovel course. See you in TST!

Also of note, posting what club set people used is something I was wanting them to do in TGC2.

Here is the breakdown: Master - 43 (23%) Pro - 103 (55%) Beginner - 42 (22%)

I was not surprised. Almost all of CC-A used Pro or Beginner Clubs during Q-school. There are a lot of good players artificially forced to CC-A because of the club restrictions.
That is why the promotion rules are designed the way they are.

Thanks for pointing out your club selection guys. Didn’t really think much of it after the server patch and had the same set. Put the 2w instead of 3w, the 2H for the 3H and put the 3i in the bag and took out the 4i. Feels more well rounded for my play especially with the longer clubs.
This week of practice at Steamshovel seems wide open off the tee. But need to place the approach shot in the right places. When I did, I could read the greens a bit more and more decisive on breaks. Long week at work and a little swing change so we’ll see how this week goes. Good luck all!
Which club set you gonna go with Wade? No peer pressure lol. Play what you have the most fun with 🤙🏽
