Here are the Masters Clubs numbers: PS4 - Median Accuracy (0.044166312), Average Percentage of Perfect Downswings - 77% XB1 - Median Accuracy (0.041543424), Average Percentage of Perfect Downswings - 46.86%% Steam - Median Accuracy (0.039952909), Average Percentage of Perfect Downswings - 68% Thats staggering. Debate over. Ban PS4 scum

I'll try on my nerd hat, too, since everyone else is doing it these days. The bad news is that my nerd hat doubles as my skepticism hat, and you've all wasted your time. You can not assume that performance characteristics of all subjects involved are equal across platform within an acceptable margin of error. The variance in skill level between the groups is confounding, especially given the fact that it's not possible to separate the skill characteristic from the platform each individual player is using - i.e., is PS4 easier, or do there just happen to be more skilled players who play on ps4? That's an impossible question to answer given its circular nature, it's just not feasible to de-link skill from platform given that one requires the other to exist. ...ok, just having a bit of fun with the stats 301 crowd lol. I'm a numbers nerd too, respect the effort, and realize that everyone is aware of the impossibility of finding a conclusive answer based on what we have access to/are able to do - just messing with yall

On xbox and curious to know if other xboxers find this.
Basically when i think i hit p/p it seems 7 out of 10 times it'll land a just barely fast downswing.
If i slow it down to try and compensate the chances of landing a slow goes up so much it's not even worth it.
I've just learn to play the smidge fast downswing, but i do find it almost impossible how it manages to land in that exact same fast spot so many times.

Are there numbers for Pro and beginner clubs too? Would be curios to see % of Perfect Downswings for the more forgiving clubs.

If you could mod a ps4 controller to play on a xbox and vice versa then take a control group it would give some good data.
For me I find the stock Xbox controller to be easier than the Elite. The stock Xbox controller that came with my S and X are stiffer. I actually have to Elite controller. One is and Xbox and the other is a Scuf. I find the Scuf to be harder than the elite.
So who knows.
Bottom line though it is hard to argue that the PS4 is not easier. The odds of having that many better players on one system is pretty low I would think. There are some very good players on Xbox as well. I guess if we could see the best of the best on both consoles and compare swings that would be another way to look at it.

So basically we need to have 3 different tours for the 3 different systems?

Hmmmmm? J/k, I’m switching to PS4. I mean I have one so why not. J/k again, I wouldn’t pay for another copy of TGC 2019.

Excellent analysis 👍
So... the hypothesis "ps4 is easier than other platforms" is not proved here... it's very true that there might be other selective pressures pushing higher skilled players towards PS4. However it does provide significant evidence that this could be true.
If I were a betting man - based on Larry's work & Jeff's insight into the raw numbers - it's probably true. The result counts as a reasonably significant advantage imho. Probably not going to see me switch tho - ima frame rate whore, so vote for just banning the PS4 players...

Yep this is exactly my take, we can't possibly know definitively whether a platform is 'easier', we just know for sure from the data that there is a difference in scoring and especially tempo for PS4 players that isn't purely down to the larger PS4 player base. I know from personal experience playing both PC and PS4 that tempo on the latter was easier for me and my personal swing - in fact I felt I didn't even have to concentrate, just wallop the stick at full force and hey presto, perfect tempo. But I'd rather hook the odd ball into a lake than have to look at those horrific PS4 visuals again.

Coming from an Engineering perspective, I would be curious to run some tests on the DS4 controller versus an Xbox stock or elite controller and figure our the ergonomic differences of the controllers. Putting the comfort and configuration of the controllers aside, I think the the DS4 could show a better percentage of perfect downswings because it's spring resistance might be greater than that of the xbox controller (it would feel stiffer). I have heard some PS4 players say they don't really think about their swing and just cram the stick forward and get a perfect downswing. I use an xbox controller on the PC and I know for sure if I just cram the stick forward on my downswing I would get a fast or very fast downswing. The xbox stick is very loose feeling and I feel like I have to concentrate fairly hard to get the perfect speed and not accidentally push forward too fast or hard. Not to say the players using the DS4 have a freebie, but I would think it would be easier to avoid fast and very fast downswings if the controller was stiffer. The sensitivity on the controllers may be the same but just a small amount of resistance could make a difference when it comes to tempo. This is all just speculation based on how i've felt playing various games using both kinds of controllers. Also my twin brother had TGC2 on PS4 and told me the swing felt easier for him than when he came to my house and played it on my PC with my xbox controller... but my graphics look way better!!!

This blows me away! I was having a hard time understanding why I could not be consistent with the tempo in 2k19. Now that I see the numbers I see it's my system, not me. XB1 looks to have gotten a straight up raw deal this game. It really turns me off to the game knowing we are at a distinct disadvantage just turning on the game. I would hope HB gets a look at this data and makes the necessary changes to our sensitivity next server patch.
EDIT: and this doesn't even take into account how terrible our flop and pitch tempos are. I venture to say I'm in the 15% range of p/p on those. 28 yrds from the hole turns into a 28 ft putt....LOL but not funny

I feel like this has opened a can of worms. I play on X1 and have struggled with the tempo of Master clubs to the point in beat me into submission. I could barley touch the stick and it would start at backswing causing very slow. Then there were times I felt like the downswing was almost random (how 3 swings with seemly the same speed would have such different results). Come to find out, it might as it might be a system thing. Definitely interested to see what other results come from this.
