Just played a round with all the graphics settings to off on the default setting - While the course did have some lag, it wasn't major or causing any off tempo shots.
It really is a great course.
I holed out on hole 9 from a tricky position on the edge of a fairway bunker. As you can see from the replay, it's pretty smooth frame rate wise.

I have played 2 rounds here on ps4 standard with no stuttering.
If this was a contest with a poll there are 2 courses I'd be consisering. This is one of them. I'm not sure I've played all the entries though..

I really don't want to put a negative spin on this course because it's wonderful from the 9 holes that I've played. The problem is that it lags really badly on PS4, at least it did for me when I played earlier; it felt as though it was running at sub 20fps constantly - this was on a Pro, with game mode enabled on my TV too.
I think that the problem must be the amount of trees and the excellent lighting. A real shame because this is a superb design.
Be interested to see if anyone else has had this problem?
Also, I had to take a drop on the 5th hole and it would not let me drop on a large portion of the fairway for some reason...
Unfortunately, it lagged for us quite a bit when we streamed it the other day too. Outside of that, this course is tremendously fun to play and I am so excited about what this designer will be putting out in the future! He's a name to watch around here folks.

I'm of two minds on this course, so I hope this comes across the right way.
From a technical standpoint, the planting, use of lighting, detail, etc...nearly flawless. Completely beautiful and playable and full of things to look at and explore. Simply stunning.
From an architectural standpoint, this course did nothing for me. The creek was overused, the meandering routing seemed well-thought-out but almost too clever, and the bisected tee-shots that forced me to lay up rather than giving me a shot on many of the tee shots became frustrating after a while.
I gave this course 5 stars because it is patently obvious that the designer has exceptional skill and touch. I did not favorite it, however, because I feel like once was enough.
This may come across as harsh or an unpopular take, but candidly I'd love to see this designer spread his wings and try something different with more width and less use of perpendicular water hazards as a design crutch.

This may come across as harsh or an unpopular take, but candidly I'd love to see this designer spread his wings and try something different with more width and less use of perpendicular water hazards as a design crutch. Decided my initial critique may have been a bit harsh, partially because I was playing the course while tired/watching the baseball game. So I went back and had another go of it. To say the architecture did "nothing for me" isn't a fair critique. There are certainly some good holes here. 2, 3, and 4 is a nice little run of holes in the early stretch of the round. I like the use of the creek on 4 as a diagonal hazard. This hole uses width to its advantage among its peers. The greens on this course are better than I originally thought; they definitely have some subtleties that I missed in my first play. Hole 7 felt very similar to hole 1. I understand the intent with hole 8, but that hole would actually be better in my opinion if the trees on the right that are intended to guard the green were either moved farther right or taken down. That hole is plenty tough without the trees guarding the tee shot and more width/options for carving a tee shot in there depending on the pin placement would have been infinitely more satisfying. Hole 9 is another good design idea that I thought might have been better executed with a little more width. But I enjoyed this hole and the intent behind it; the green on this one with the punchbowl front and running away from the player is especially good and different. Hole 10 is probably the best hole on the course from a strategic standpoint and the way the light shines through the trees is mesmerizing and beautiful. Another really good green. I stand by what I said in my previous post about how great the environment of this course is...the planting, lighting, etc. are all fantastic. I mean, how good is this?!?! The detail work behind the 11th is very good. 12 is a good hole but feels super claustrophobic. 15 is a beautiful par 5 but I wish the creek was better utilized here and wish it had a wider corridor on the tee shot. Really, the entire stretch of 15-18 is very good and a worthy closing stretch. The comments I made previous about the routing being "almost too clever" were probably also unfair. I do wish the creek had been better utilized on more holes, as it was really good on 2 and 4 but only so-so on 7, 15, and 18. Overall, this course has much more architectural merit than I originally thought. A grower, if you will. I look forward to your next project because your eye for detail is obvious.

Appreciate the honesty of your critique Job... Liked your first take better. It had such a refreshing, nobullshit feel to it.

Really great course, Scott. The environment, planting, sculpting, tee-shot framing....all expertly done. So many designers should be taking notes from this one on how to polish up, which might tip my hand as to how I think this contest may play out, ha ha. Most importantly, it's a unique and memorable course...such a tough thing to achieve. Job well done, and I can't wait to see what you do next (well, what you do next in full-size, as the short course also looks dynamite).

I know it's a bit past the time but I missed this on release. Just finished up my CC rounds and had to find this thread. This is my favourite course I've played in this version of the game so far. My frustrations with the game were starting to get the better of me, you've brought the love back. Absolutely outstanding my friend. Reminded me of Fossmill which I also loved in TGC1, but this is better. Make more!

Oh, and I had hardly any lag, just for the record. (XB1)

I've heard some recent buzz about this course and never played it before...so just completed a fun -9 round with a birdie-birdie-birdie-eagle finish. Overall really enjoyed the experience...don't get too many shorter wooded courses like this so nice to see. That 250yd par3 after a bunch of short par4s was a little jarring. Great work and I'm excited to see your World Cup Course

2K21 published... This course is probably brutal now, ha... Scared to try, the struggle is real.

This was one of the first courses I ever played in the series - I bought the game in late August just after release and had a blast on my first round. Came back to it again and loved it more - we may have lost Blue Gums Elk Reserve (RIP), but this one is simply beautiful. Still holds up today
