People do not usually play all their rounds, at once. I always take 5-6 days to complete 4 rounds. Also, don't expect a big turn out for this sort of event.

Just shot a 61 -11 in the 4th round for a -29 total. And I acually missed 3-4 putts I felt I should have made. But overall this was fun. I find it alot more indepth tourney to actually have to listen to the wind, pay attention to the tee ball to judge the wind also, remember the greens slopes, spots to hit it to on them, and lines to take off the tee. Any1 who hasnt tried this, I encourage to give it a try. All Aids off, its just you and the course. I was acually starting to be able to read breaks real well in my 3rd and 4th round of this.

How are you reading greens? When I play offline, I spend a lot of time reading greens, lol. I scan the entire area (since we are on a "fixed" point) and look for ridges, drop offs, etc. Here is my recent video of course reviews on here, showcasing my All Aides Off approach - but poor putting and general execution hurts me significantly. and my playlist: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW2HZNRUQPeaa2pI-Hmg2rmiHxTMO4GD5

Aced the 5th in the NO HELP @ Berkshire County Down......3 iron with some fade and a helping wind of unknown mph off the left bank with about 60 ft of roll....looked like a cruise missile locking onto its target....NO Help No Problem....almost like I designed the course....then missed an ace by two inches on the 16th...

Hey Matt, I just read them by hitting the putting camera button and just go off first instinct. Dont over read cause you will start seeing things lol. I usually make my mind up within 5 seconds on my read. It also helps that im playing on a 60 inch HD TV. And alot of it came from remembering how they sloped previous rounds and watching the ball on approach shots. These are all things Ive learned from golfing 20 years in real life also.

No Gringo great shooting...I had some heavy winds on that last round and could only manage 6 under....needed 10 under....UnadvisedPick also passed me by he shot 11 under in his last round....Great job by him as well.
I am off to J3y's no grid February tour....have you tried that yet? Plus he will have another no help up today....I will play that later in the week. See you out there...

Gringo - thanks for the tips. I think what you said is key about starting to see things. It gets pretty bad, I need a lot of practice still. I had to actually decide to start using the green grid when doing course reviews, but I will be practicing "offline" to get the reading of greens a lot better. I think it would be nice if there was an "in between" level of green interpreation. Such as instead of an obstructive grid (which also takes away from the beauty of the green texture, etc, imho), HB could create it where you go to the hole overview, and there are arrows/indications of what direction certain parts of the game go - like a pro caddy's book. Either way, I will practice a bit more and use your 5 second approach, so I can stop shooting in the 90's on these course reviews, lol.

Real life habits definitely carries over... Paying attention to what the ball is doing after landing is key, but just as in real life its a combination of factors that determines the read. One thing I find is not always good in game is to read to much into general lay of the land. Works for some courses that are designed in a realistic way but sometimes is completely off. Really enjoying this no grid and no help stuff! Sometimes when it comes together it can be very satisfying... Far from shooting 10 under yet though.

I am missing that one! That would be key in reading greens for me! It's what I do IRL...

The NO HELP part in the title was an oversight. The real name should and will now be NO TRAINING WHEELS (monthly tours and weekly tournaments). The NO GRID should continue for a while.
