Getting together and making a manual on how to design a TGC golf course?
There are so many things that the average ( I am one of those) designer doesn't even know exists when it comes to the designer.
So many tips and tricks, so many.....

Getting together and making a manual on how to design a TGC golf course? There are so many things that the average ( I am one of those) designer doesn't even know exists when it comes to the designer. So many tips and tricks, so many..... The only downside that I can see to this is that if you take the top 6 or 7 designers in this game, I can almost guarantee that they would all do things differently. Take bunker sculpting for example: VctryLnSprts and @griff are two AMAZING designers and they do their bunker sculpting completely different. The best thing is if you find something that you really like the look of, ask the designer about it. Almost all of the great designers are more than happy to pass on their knowledge because they care about improving the design community as a whole. (I stole that line from Eric VctryLnSprts!)

Im confused When did VctryLnSprts become an amazing designer? ROFLMAO Kidding Eric, Im Kidding, you are mediocre at best... but hey we all have to start somewhere Good idea, but Chris has a point as well everyone does things so different it would be a logistical nightmare to create but it would be something I would love to see

Chances are it'd have to be a collection of tips and tricks, plus maybe a little bit of people's thoughts on how they approach the design/strategy of a hole. Everyone has their own style, and nobody is doing things exactly the same. That being said, if someone wanted to create something like that, I'd be happy to chip in.

Doing things differently gives us all a better chance at becoming better, does it not?

I suppose it would have to be a collection of how different designers create a course, then people can pick what works best for them. There are designers who'll start with a flattened blank plot then lay their course then sculpt. Then one's who will sculpt the terrain and build a course around it. But there are a few great ideas that have came from rookie designers as well. I'm sure if you ask many designers there would be something that they struggle with that others do well. I'm still trying to find something that I'm happy with in my designs and a certain routine that I'll follow whilst designing.

I know I'm a few levels below the elite designers, but I have two ways of working (excluding Quirk Park on TGC2 which was a one off and I let my imagination run wild).
One is to use the contours of the land I am given when the plot generates and create my course around that, adding my own sculpting work where I think necessary. This is my method for completely original courses. The other is to flatten and raise everything so everything is level and there is no water and create from scratch. I use this way when I am designing holes that are inspired by real life holes.

Then I raised the edge of the plot to avoid any ugly terrain transition on the edge and it creates a valley look to it. Don't put your designing down, just because your courses aren't played as much as others doesn't mean your input isn't as valuable.

I'm not putting myself down. I know I'm not at the level of an Arctic Fury, Scarpacci, Crazy Canuck to name a few (yet?)

I love designing but because of elite designers, I still am on a quest to make a course that might get at least one wow before I publish.

My aim is to have one of my courses used on TGC Tours, no matter what level. If I achieve that, then I'll take it from there and aim higher.

I'm not putting myself down. I know I'm not at the level of an Arctic Fury, Scarpacci, Crazy Canuck to name a few (yet?) What I mean is that you may come up with an idea that those guys think is good, because we all have different ways and maybe something that you or I do could be more efficient or better looking.

I'm definitely not an amazing designer, but where do I send the friendship payment Tenahka?
