I have broken ground on the future site of Blunderbuss. The course will be a somewhat rugged yet maintained championship course settled in the wooded terrain in the foothills of an overlooking mountain range. The course will be fictionally set in Colorado. One of the inspirations for this course is the Mountain Course at Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado. All though it will be a modern-style golf course there will be Pioneer-ish elements of a western gateway settlement. Not really sure why I chose "Blunderbuss" as the name other than me thinking it had a nice ring to it. To my knowledge I don't think there is any other courses out yet with the same name... if there is just let me know and I will come up with something else. Mountain Course at Broadmoor Golf Club Rookie Contest participants are highly encouraged to share with the community and get feedback so I will try to share updates as much as possible and hopefully be able to put out a few betas before the deadline. I will be very busy getting hitched in the upcoming weeks but I will see if I can get a few early pictures up here of some of the holes. The course will be open for play in late October or early November! (Depending on the Contest deadline)

Imagine how fantastic it could of been if you had your priorities right and postponed the wedding! Just leaving a lot of this up to the imagination for now. When I actually sculpt some mountains I might just have to throw a few goats up there! Yea you said it best man. If I would have just bailed on the wedding this course might be done right now and I could get back to killing goaa... I mean playing rounds.

Update:
Blunderbuss now has 9 playable holes completed (except for finishing touches on greens). The course also now includes a clubhouse, parking lot, practice green and driving range...
I'm considering publishing a 9 hole beta to get some feedback on the playability of the course so far. I am going to try to get the final 9 holes laid down next week so I can get down to the details and still have plenty of time to make it shine. Unfortunately I can see I'm behind the other courses in the contest. Hopefully I can make up my lost time in the next few weeks!

Here's some updated pictures... I have 18 playable holes... 3 lakes completely surrounded by retaining walls and... I tried a new planting technique that I'm not used to. This course has been a lot of fun playtesting so I hope it's well received!

FYI... to anyone who cares to follow along... I will be publishing a beta sometime before Monday. Less than half the course will be actually planted but it will be a fully playable course and I'll be looking for any feedback I can get! Asthetics and cart paths are still in progress so I'm mainly looking for advice on playability and lighting at this point. I will update this thread when the beta is out!

BETA PUBLISHED!!!!!!!
Keep in mind... I'm not done with the aesthetics yet but the course is there for play!
The course is named BBCourseBETA1
Give it a play and let me know what you think! Playability and lighting are what I need the most feedback on.

Mate i wouldnt change much, it was fun enjoyable just be mindful of the sculpting around your dam think its on the back nine if it was me i would grass it and tree it and make it OB as i ended up in there and had no shot lol
But at the moment bro it was really well done

I think I know where you're talking about. I'll look into that dam soon and see what I can do about it! Sometimes I don't mind leaving areas in that require taking an "Unplayable lie". We will have to see how it's playing when I finish the planting. I have taken some notes of things that bothered me watching streams of the course but I won't touch too much! Seems to be playing pretty fair for people

I had a crack at it Justin and honestly thought it played well. The lighting was fine for me. I think its going to be a nice enjoyable easy track for CC level! If I had to be super fussy and try to pick something out I would suggest having a look at one or two of your bunkers, a couple of them seemed a little bit pancake like, don't know if you've finished sculpting them yet or not. Can't wait for the finished product!

When the drag brush update happened I had some experimental bunkers that might need a little more love. I appreciate the play buddy!
