Very early stages with this - got 10 holes laid out (tees, fairways, rough, greens, bunkers) - but no planting at all. (+ 1 hole has waypoints and nothing else) I should add that it is currently at 187 firm greens to make sure it is playable under all conditions - that will be toned down somewhat for the final release.
A few early pics:
1st hole - 396yd par 4 - lay up with 3w off the tee - don't go right into the lake. It then doglegs to the right to a generous green (you can just see the greenside trap through the tree on the right) - an easy opener: (The near bunker on the left is a fairway bunker on the 9th)
2nd hole: 156yd par 3 - a tricky hole despite the short length - it's all over water and the mound front centre means you are generally landing the approach on a downslope. You can take the safe par by overclubbing slightly to the back half - but being aggressive brings danger at the front into play:

18th hole (although currently numbered as 10): 342yds on the card - but given the amount of dogleg, it is a risk reward driveable par 4 - reachable even into a slight headwind by tour clubs to the three pins to the right. You'll need a following wind to carry further left and run down to the top left pin though. Simple layup between the bunkers followed by a pitch if you are being cautious....

With the changes in gameplay and splining, a few changes to the opening two holes: (both still unplanted)
1st tee shot - fairway extended, additional bunker on the left, narrowing it in around the 290yd mark. 9th fairway on the left.
2nd shot into the 1st hole - passing the 7th tee, and an extra greenside bunker on the left
2nd hole - with the extra bounce, the front mound made the hole unfair - the slope has been flattened, and a bunker added. 3rd tee on the left.
4th hole: 530yd par 5
Avoid the traps off the tee:
If you do, you will have as little a 5/6 iron over water to the green - otherwise you will be laying up to the second part of the fairway to the right:

I really love the look of your 10th/18th hole! And I think that change up from a mound to a bunker on your 2nd was a really smart idea, would look better from the tee aswell. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Chris - it's confirmed now as the 18th hole - laid the final (other) hole just now - so all the routing is done.
It's very much driveable now with the 284 distance of master clubs - you CAN hit it close to all four pins - but whether that is the best / most sensible play remains to be seen.......the choice will be yours!
And the 2nd hole is still a tough one to hit it close - gotta challenge that front bunker as the green still runs away from you a little - but not as severely as before.

Hole 3 - 484yds - Par 4 The toughest hole on the course comes early on here - a big dogleg left. An uphill tee shot, that if you shape it right to left round the trees, you can use the fairway slopes to gain a few yards. Then a long iron to a well protected green, off a sidehill lie. Par will be a good score here for just about anyone (but then of course you can get it back at the previously mentioned par 5 4th hole)
5th hole - 375yd par 4
A relatively straightforward hole - probably a 3w or hybrid off the tee to stay short of the right bunkers, leaving just a wedge down to the green. The green is relatively small but two tiered - and the approach is semi-blind......

Question for everyone - a strange problem with my 1st tee today. I've added the clubhouse around 30-40 yards from it - and now the tee simply will not go flat - it's got a minor slope on it since putting the clubhouse in, but using any flatten button simply does nothing.
Anyone run into this before, and if so - any ideas how to flatten it - otherwise my first tee box is going to be less than optimal lol.

I had that problem on a course once, it seemed that when I placed the clubhouse I couldn't work any terrain around it. I don't know if it's designed to make sure the clubhouse can't be manipulated in any way, but mine wasn't as far away as 30 yds. I'm sure I had to move the clubhouse back a bit.

Beta is done! Looking for some play testers... I'd recommend posting about your beta in own WIP thread, maybe change the thread title to include beta in it. Also add the name of the beta just so people can find it in the game easier.

Guess the tee will stay slightly sloped then - as I'm not redoing all the extra stuff I did round the clubhouse again, and the tee can't go further away, as it would need to move further left in the pics, thus blocking visibility of the left bunker etc. You know what the hardest part of making a new course is? Naming the bloody thing.....!!!

Naming the bloody thing.....!!! I don't know if it would work but have you tried the red brushes on it, that's the only thing I can think of. Yeah naming a course can be hard especially when you see some of the names already out there. Sometimes I've came up with a name first then build a course and try and create a background suitable to it.
