This small delay you speak of at the top of the swing is interesting. If I do that I will 100% get a slow backswing. If I’m not swinging down straight away it’s slow. I'd say that is more of a 'feeling' of a delay rather than necessarily an 'actual' delay - it depends on how close the animation is to 'real-time' of your stick / mouse movement. I'm on PC - and used a mouse until the last few weeks - the mouse movement and the animation were almost exactly 'real-time' - so I swung back and through with no pause at all between backswing and downswing - and that got me perfect backswing - if I paused, then I got slow. I then went to XB1 controller on the PC - and I move the stick to the top - but the animation takes a little bit longer to reach the top - so I have to feel like I stop briefly before swinging down (otherwise the game registers as me not completing the backswing and thus having a fast backswing) - if I pause a tiny bit, I get perfect, if I pause for slightly longer, I get slow. Hope that makes sense

Whenever 2019 Drops on PSN store i'll be streaming a guide on what you should do if you want to be Legendary at this game as well as play career/vs/societyy/or whatever.
Mind you iv'e never touched this version of the game so it'll also be a learning process for me as well but i'll explain what I'm doing and how I'm figuring out all aspects the game.

Good job on the tempo. It’s the key to everything in this game. Said it many tones that if you are “truely” p/p it’s hard to NOT hit it straight. My tip is slow it down at least that is what I have to tell myself. No other advice will help until this is correct. I agree about the tempo. I have played golf in R/L for about two years now with mixed results. I never really thought about tempo until I came to a realisation about two months ago that I may be swinging too hard or too fast. I consciously made an effort to smooth out my tempo (using the 3 to 1 ratio counting idea). What a difference it made to my game! it was like night and day. Now I can confidently judge pretty much exactly where the ball will end up (unless I miss-hit the ball). My consistency and confidence on the course and the range have sky-rocketed. Tempo is massively important in Golf, I wish I had learned this sooner!
