Well I just had a lights out final round -9 63!! Finished the tournament at -20. That should be more than enough I hope for me to get out of Z and hopefully begin my climb up the ranks. I won’t get too excited though, I always seem to follow up a good tournament with a stinker the next. But man!! I played some good golf this tournament. The 14th only bit me once all tourny long. Beautiful course enjoyed every minute of it!

I have done my first round and i closed with -4. I dont know how is possible that a loto of player have done score under 10 with those greens and this wind The wind is your friend good sir. Use it to your advantage and don't see it as a bad thing.

Well R3 (69) coulda woulda shoulda the back nine on this course is EVIL!! -8 after three R4 tomorrow. BTW on the 15th I was 24yds from pin 3' drop so I tried a flop. The LW is set for 25yds and I set the loft to the top thinking a short flop and roll but it went 50+ yds. I'm thinking by setting it like that I'm doing a flop with a 3 iron theoretically any thoughts? John, swing tempo has to be spot on for flop shots. If your downswing is fast at all it overshoots massively. Lofting will even further hinder that tempo multiplier I guess. Much easier with the Player clubs rather than the Tour set IMO. Thanks, Kevin I have an unpublished "driving range" I use for practice and did the same thing and the shot only went 19 yds (0' elevation) but I'll keep that in mind. Tempo is a problem with player clubs as well chipping is a whole other story lol!!

So It was the 14th that ruined my chances of a win. -18 after 2 rounds and doing well. I left my approach to the hole short caught the slope in front of the pin and off I went. Then I repeated the process 3-4 times before ending up with a round ender. The only way to putt up that hill is to play it at 100% strength (without moving the putting marker). Anything less and it's back under your feet. Trust me, I did the research. Funnily enough, I didn't have to use it in competition, felt kinda like I wasted my time! ended up flopping it up there. Twice. 1st attempt span back off the green as I landed it far to close to the pin.

-8 in round 4 to finish at -29 on CC-D. Missed so many putts on the back nine that were completely makeable... did have a nice eagle from 166 out on 9! Hopefully the 20% exemption from moving month will temporarily bump me to C-Cubed.

Was travelling well in my exemption tournament with a score of 5 under and a total of 15 under for the tournament after 13 holes. Just when I was thinking I may finally crack the above strike limit after my umpteenth attempt on the 14th (CC-D) I my Sergio Garcia moment. My birdie putt missed the hole by a spiders appendage and slid a further 25 yards off the green thanks to the slope . I pulled out a loft wedge and lobbed the ball just beyond the hole. Spin brought the ball back to my feet (Par) Try again, same outcome (Bogey) . Try again, same outcome (Double) Try again, same outcome (Triple) . Change clubs to a sand wedge. Hit it thin and scuttled through the green (8) . Putt from fringe (9) . Sink 6 footer (10) So in the space of one hole went from five under to one over for the day. At this point I was ready to give it away as a bad joke but continued. Birdied 15, Birdied 16, Par 17, Birdied 18. Finished two under for the day. Clubs in car boot and now relaxing in a bar.

I'm sorry about #14, I swear it wasn't that bad when I play tested it. The hill was big but there was supposed to be plenty of room at the top...didn't work out that way. If/when I port the course to TGC 2019, the greens are definitely getting a little love to even out the difficulty.

And as far as 14 goes .... once you actually plan your second shot you should be safe. It probably could do a little smoothing out, but that’s your call. Please put this course into 2019. Cheers!

I'm not moaning I'm merely describing what happened, Its a green unlike most in the game I laughed my head off as my ball rolled back down to my feet. It was only after thinking about my shot properly that I nailed my approach. The 4 practices helped like.

At least there was no water nearby or the clubs and bag would be in there now. My wife heard my exclamations and wondered what the heck was going on. Then she saw one of my attempts and left the room in tears. My second was perfectly positioned - just a tad too much weight on the putt and that was it. Dion't let anyone say you can't get spin on the ball. I'll go back to 'E' next week and plan my next assault.

As much complaining as I did about these greens, my biggest complaint has nothing to do with the course at all or how the game itself plays.
It's the font size of the green elevation above or below the golfer.
In TGC 1 it was big and clear and there was no way to mistake 2 ft for 1 ft. Now, forget it.
So on the first hole round 2, which is where the blow up for the round came, instead of preparing for a 2 ft uphill putt from 50 feet out (equal to about a 74 foot putt) I prepared for a 1 ft uphill putt or 62 feet. Ultimately, my ball came all the way back down to my feet.
That set the tone for the whole round as I double bogie'd that hole.
I have no idea why they chose to make fonts so damn small that nobody over the age of 30 can read them but they did. That is absolutely my most hated part of this game. Take that round away and I've got my exemption sewn up.
Those are the things that frustrate me. I've got Tour Clubs down pretty well now, finally and I can at least hit the ball straight off the tee. But putting drives me absolutely crazy because I can't read the distances.
That doesn't mean I'm giving some of these greens a pass. Not at this level. We're in CC-E because we stink at this game. We shouldn't have to play greens that would give World players problems.
And that's the last I'm saying on the subject.
