Unfortunately the RCR of The Old White TPC is on the back burner. The laptop I'm using is sh%$, and is too frustrating to work with. So I have decided to build a fictional version of The Old White TPC like I did with The Heritage GC (fictional Harbour Town). I'm very keen to get into the thick of it with this course, as the Old White is my favorite course on the PGA Tour. And again, like with Harbour Town, there are zero courses on TGC2 that reflect what The Old White has on offer. This fictional version will follow a very similar routing, exact par order of holes, Greenbrier resort style theme and a 3rd hole biarritz green par 3 just for Bsmooth.....
I'm hoping to get this finished in time for this year's Greenbrier Classic that kicks off on the first week of July. Hopefully all will go to plan and I will be streaming and posting up vids of the holes/course throughout. đź‘Ť

Starting work on the 3rd hole par 3 tonight. Very much looking forward to it as it's a Biarritz green. Simply not enough of these in the game!

Finished laying down the Biarritz green for the third hole. Still needs surface sculpting but I've been filling in the blanks around it before I get to that. Love the uniqueness to these types of holes, and they also throw up a tough challenge when designed to be long. Here is a close up look of the hole...

Here is a close up look and playthrough of the par 4 437yd 5th hole, which is also the signature hole on the course. Thoroughly enjoyed designing this one...

I believe this is the Leven template, no? “Leven is a short par 4, usually 330 to 360 yards. Fairway bunker or waste area challenges golfer to make a heroic carry for an open approach to the green. Less courageous line from the tee leaves golfer with a semi-blind approach over a high bunker or sand hill to the short side of the green. Usually a moderately undulating surface with least accessible cup placement behind sand hill.”

I pretty much mimicked this from the Old White 5th itself, but with added length from the championship tee's so that fairway bunkers are in play. I left out a greenside bunker to give the green area a nice lush look of just all green with added tree's and bushes. It feels like a really cosy corner on the course.

Old White is a classic of the template hole design courses, one of the things that makes it so unique IMO. If you're giving up on the RCR on PC and willing to share the course file, shoot me a message - would be a perfect next project for me once I'm through the designer challenge series comp.

The rcr I was doing was still on PS4. So unfortunately I cannot send over any files.

Looking forward to starting work on the 6th hole today which will be 'redan' par 3 hole roughly in the range of 160-185 yards. I've also been toying with the idea of being a revolutionary and having a NG two Biarritz greens on the course... Difference between them will be that my second one, I am thinking of using it on my 'long' hole which will be a lengthy par 5. It could be renamed 'long biarritz.'

A few hours later and here is the redan. Still have to fill in details surrounding the hole but the layout, bunkering and sculpting is done and dusted. Here's what it looks like...

Looking good man, nice work. I built a 95% Redan (and Biarritz-inspired, too) on my WIP, but with raised bunkers behind the green for a visual touch instead of the lowered back bunker. Anyways, yours looks great, and these style par3's play really well in game I think, especially one's with sustained sideslope throughout the surface so you can slingshot a long iron/hybrid into the mound on the high side and have it release instead of playing over the bunker. I mentioned in your RCR thread about the Biarritz at Old White, but the Redan at that course is equally as vivid of a memory - the damn slope was HUGE! I was there for a practice round and saw guys literally taking 3-4 balls out in the hand, throwing them as high up in the air as they could and land on the mound/slope just to see how far it would come back...such a cool hole.

Yeah, the redan at the Old White has this biggest slope I know of on a redan style hole. I'm going with the sunken bunkers to make the course extra difficult. The old white plays quite easy fir the pros in the Greenbrier and I want to really max out the difficulty on this course. I'm aiming for it the be the most difficult course I have ever built. What course are you currently building?

What course are you currently building? I'm working on my entry into leg 2 of Griff's designer challenge series contest, trying to build a course that would be Brazil's "National Treasure" - surprisingly harder than you'd think lol. Here's the link to the WIP thread, but haven't posted in there too recently: Copavista ResortHere are a few quick pics of the Redan-styled/inspired par 3 I mentioned, please excuse the low quality images:

Can definitely see the redan effect there. With a twist. I can imagine Brazil being a pretty strange setting to tackle.

Hoping to get the front 9 finished sometime tonight. Almost halfway through the course.
