I tell you, just when I think I have distances nailed with your little chart, Doyley, I get a shot that goes way long or comes up way short. I don't think your charts are off per se, but I do think the wind dynamics have changed, especially with tail winds which seem to effect the ball more. I've been testing it out and normally an 8mph tail wind you would minus 6ish yards, I'm finding I'm having to minus 8-10 yards.
As a side note your little PC trick for wind of pressing the button one quick click for each MPH is also difficult for me to understand. I have a mechanical keyboard and have tried this on multiple occasions and just can't get the knack, as I will have a 10mph side wind blowing right to left, hit it 10 quick times and am no where far enough to the left. Same with the ball lie. Note I'm not whining, as each person has to find their own ways to cope with the wind and lies, just saying it isn't as simple as you made it seem.
I really wish they would have a ball lie indicator. Even with my machine and it is a beast of a build with an ROG Swift monitor, it is very hard for me to see whether the ball is lying straight or slightly elevated left/right.
I do like your distance charts for reference as I really am trying to change my game where my approach shot will usually be one more club with one grid of loft to minimize roll. It is a new way to play and I'm really liking the results most of the time.
One final thought as I find this mechanic the most frustrating of the game, is one that I'll describe as inconsistent. Lets say i'm on the tee. I have a 10 mph wind blowing 90 degrees right to left. I see my aiming marker and I expect that when I hit the ball, the flight of the ball should start along that aiming marker then move to the left. Unfortunately what i often see is the moment I strike the ball it will start left of the aiming marker and continue left as if I shanked the ball even though the indicator shows I hit the ball straight. Other times in the same situation, it will start right of the aiming marker before moving left, even on a straight hit. I'm trying to figure out if it is my backswing that is effecting this and if it is, I'm a bit peeved that there is no backswing indicator to show your backswing is off. This happens multiple times in a round and i don't know if it has something to do with the backswing or if it is just a feature of the game that even with a perfect swing, the game will randomly move the ball flight by a degree or so. What do you think?
