I just unplanted the whole course. I have no idea what I’m doing.

I just unplanted the whole course. I have no idea what I’m doing. Just sit on it for a bit... play some rounds, work on another course, etc. just get busy doing something else and you never know when an idea will pop in your head.

That’s good advice, so I thought about opening up Marathon CC tonight, but I feel a lot of optimism that I can #FreeLybster. So here’s what happened: After I unplanted literally EVERYTHING, I changed the theme to highlands, decided to smooth out the dunes a little bit to provide a “softer,” more rolling terrain, started thinking through some good advice from RJWils, and then came up with a new vision for where I want this course to go. After all of that, I got started remaking the course, beginning with hole 1. I’m not even done with this hole yet, but here’s an updated direction for this goat ranch.

Good to see the new direction is safety first with the fenced off lighthouse!

One of the best things about the highlands theme for a course like this? Autogen scrub bushes! It'll (probably) work for the look I think you're going for, and saves a lot of work.

I haven’t auto-gened anything on this course, so I’ll see what that looks like, but I may just plant everything directly.

I’ve settled on a planting strategy for this course, so I’ll move on from here. Only 17 holes to go. 😕 Hole 1

I'm keeping my gob shut this time. Keep it going buddy.
Played the two beta releases, both were fine, although I must admit to not noticing much difference between them. Guess I'm not cut out for rangering!

Guess I'm not cut out for rangering! Beta 1 was a pin check, beta 2 was my first attempt at planting this course, which I have since totally deleted. I'm now moving on in the Highlands theme and doing a completely different planting approach to this course. I think I like the way it's turning out now (although I'm sure it still looks nothing like Lybster). ;-)

Hole 2 I’ve booked my flight to Scotland already! Looking fantastic, Eric.
