What does looking at the grids and not the beads mean? I'm not sure I understand. The moving part are the beads. They show as a "moving" brighter "bead" moving from left to right or vice versa (or in some cases none at all). If you move the camera to ground level and creep up at each grid line between you and the hole, you will see that the grid lines, meaning those that are not visually moving, show a more accurate depiction of the break. This may help, When u look at the grids line it up with the bottom of your TV,, cause that's a straight line.Measure one grid line then move it up to the next one and so on and then u might be able to determine how slopey the green is.
Some other ppl posted that a while ago, other can probaly explain it better. It may help you or may not, just another tool in the shed though.

I never found the tv line thing to work at all.
What does work is practise.
