Think if I understand your thought correctly, it is incorrect. Come January there will be two methods to get to PGA+. Both WGR and Hottest Players will be active at the same time. For example, a new guy on the scene with 5 great events might not crack the Top 50 yet but could qualify via the Hottest Player route and deserve promotion. Right. Had to digest a lot and forgot about that. Think eventually the 70 player high end thing might be harder to maintain than the 50 low end. But who knows. Why you try it out, right? Double strike line at 50 will hopefully keep it in check - we shall see - I don't doubt the incentive to clear strikes when you have 4 of them staring back at you!

Isn't there the potential that the PGA Tour will become extremely bloated if theres not going to be much movent into the PGA+, but players keep getting exemptions from the Euro? Yes, why the potential field is 140 - but double strike line at 100 should keep the struggling players from hanging around too long - eventually it will be a beast of a tour I think. Also, earning exemption is one thing, making the cut on a well stacked field is another - hopefully it becomes the norm where 10-15 are on exemption but only 2 or 3 make the grade.

I did notice the irony of the Top 10 WGR automatically getting into PGA+ and then the top 40 on the hottest players list. Doyley: WGR current rank of 11. Doyley: Hottest player rank of 58 (If you take out the Top 10 already on this list, then 51) Hmmmm.... Sorry, Doyley I gotta give ammo to the tin-foil crowd soon to wake up. Is Brian May going to play though or will he be removed and #11 put in instead? #11 is a hack

New this season, I support the change, always seemed odd splitting up the top players. I do however, endorse the top tour being called ELITE. It just sounds good! But who cares what the cc-a player thinks😳
Great site, and thanx for ur hard work! People will fall line line with the new set up, because it's the best site for golf!

Problem with Elite Tour is that we already have European Tour with the E icon for leaderboards. I can't take anything else away from them...They're too nice!

But wait until the Euro crowd, who are largely asleep or just waking up and reading posts, chime in. This thread is going to be fun.

Surely we can come up with a word, term, or phrase, that uses a C word starting it. It's only fitting that they get that considering the banhammer words here.

Somebody mentioned someway back that the Euro Tour was inferior to PGA, hhhmmm, who holds the RYDER CUP? I have had my say on this matter to doyley already, and as a Euro player from day 1, I am not happy with the changes going forward, but I also want to attempt to play with the best players week in week out. I also feel sorry for the next Ryder Cup Captain as keeping a check on players will, I feel, not be as easy as it was for me knowing that most of my team where playing on the Euro Tour, not potentially flitting between 2-3 tours. Nobody likes change, but this is the way that the powers that be, have decided to move forward with everybody's best interests at heart, lets see what happens. See you in season 4, where ever I end up.

I joined to play the real tour structure, not a fan of PGA being the world's best, and essentially a fantasy tier at the top. I've enjoyed competing week in, week out against a few players knowing I'll never win, I've no real interest in winning at the end of the day.
Will probably drive me away but ah well, I've had a good couple of years and had a hell of a laugh.
Godspeed all going forward.

Well this is all very interesting! I'll be sad to see the Euro tour change, as that was always my tour of choice. But I think these changes are good for the tours. I think I'm gonna be up and down from PGA, occasionally to PGA+, and probably back down again.
I certainly think there needs to be that "elite" tour though - it gives a lot of us a chance to win a PGA event when we'd usually have zero chance.
Looking forward to season 4!

Sounds like a good move overall; more competitive at all levels and easier for the Admin staff.
With the new PGA+ Tour how about just calling it PGA Elite.
Alternatively how about 'PGA who gives a flying @#&* because I'll never make it with my new TGC2 swing Tour'.
Keep up the good work Scott, Tim, Jeff and all the others

The main issue I can see this bringing is, once the game is settled and everyone is entirely comfy with it down the line, you're gonna see the same pool of 6-8 people winning the elite tour every single week, bar maybe a surprise winner every couple of month or so. I know the incentive is to get on that elite tour and compete, but if you know you're gonna get on there and still be 10/20 shots behind the eventual winner, why should you care?
Genuine question, not trying to kick off etc
Personally my biggest victory in the game was making the Euro Tour. Absolutely zero interest in playing on anything PGA related, it just feels like adding a couple of extra steps of consolation prizes with the apple at the end of the line being a tour you won't compete on and may be demoted from within a week or two at the end of it.
It's not gonna please everyone and i can live with that, I essentially only play the game for two societies and my rounds each week so it gives me an extra couple of free hours per week to play Destiny 2 lol

And that's absolutely valid and I've zero issue with that, but personally I don't have the time to practice to a level where it'd be of any interest to myself so there's no incentive there for myself to play now.
