First off I want to say thank you for the hard work and time taken not just to create this site but also all the organization that goes into creating events and so forth. So with that out of the way it's time to vent while currently entered into the second week of tournaments. I'm in the WEB.COM placement which by all accounts seems to be where the top players are nested. I read last week that things went a little haywire and we got some late entries that should have been placed in the higher tiered groups. Ok, fair enough. Now looking at the latest week of tournaments I can't help but notice two people are already sub-60 in their scoring. It seems like the WEB.COM tours are hosting the best players. Not only that but also by far the largest group. Right away I'm struggling on this tour which is maybe why I'm venting more than I should. Playing in gale force winds isn't easy in the first place but it's supposed to be that way for everyone. Scoring sub-60 in the third lowest ranking group does bring that into question however.
My question are as followed, am I allowed to place myself in the Champions group? The second question is are we ever going to be in groups based on actual handicaps so that everyone within that group has a fair chance?
Again I apologize for being a whiner when I know lots of work was put into these tours and this site.

Please read new announcement on Sponsor Exemptions - also Battlefield Promotion (3 wins) can also come into effect to promote exceptional golfers out of the Web.comNot only that but also by far the largest group. Cuts increased to 110+ ties for Week 2Right away I'm struggling on this tour which is maybe why I'm venting more than I should. Playing in gale force winds isn't easy in the first place but it's supposed to be that way for everyone. Wind doesn't work that way - people will likely wait out gale force winds.Scoring sub-60 in the third lowest ranking group does bring that into question however. My question are as followed, am I allowed to place myself in the Champions group? Please read the announcement which also deals with Voluntary Demotions. The second question is are we ever going to be in groups based on actual handicaps so that everyone within that group has a fair chance? No handicaps will be used - Sponsor Exemptions will effectively move exceptional golfers to the next group, the rest is up to you to improve. There are Tips & Tricks posted here that others have been using to great success.Again I apologize for being a whiner when I know lots of work was put into these tours and this site. Take some time to explore the forums - lots of information and help waiting to be discovered

My question are as followed, am I allowed to place myself in the Champions group? Have you seen what the leader of the Champs Tour event this week has shot over 2 rounds so far? Don't assume it's less competitive down here!

The Web tour and Champions tour was always going to be polluted by sandbaggers, whom want to see their name at the top of a leader-board, sad fact of life unfortunately, some people just like beating up on those less skilled than themselves..........

Cynical and I don't think that's particularly true The web.com will always have overskilled players as that's the only Tour card new players can earn irrespective of their q-school scores. I know for a fact that several of the players at the top of the Champs Tour have been practicing HARD in the weeks since Q-school and are improving significantly in their scoring, so to start throwing sandbagger out there is both harsh and inaccurate.

I implore you guys to stick it out for at least the first month. In order to give proper value to the achievements of each of you for playing the first q school, placing new entrants on web.com with exemptions to the upper tours is the fairest way we have come up with after mulling over many alternatives. Our hope is that with the use of the exemptions for not only the new players, but the guys going consistently low on web.com and champions, we have a flexible means of improving the competitive balance ongoing throughout the season. But 1 week is too small a sample size so give us time to let the system play out. If it doesnt work we will make changes but for now we are only making minor tweaks (like raising cut line on web).

On topic - yeah I think it will all sort itself out within a few weeks

Again I apologize for being a whiner when I know lots of work was put into these tours and this site. Mick, I rushed Q school to get a card and was placed in the WEB with the score I shot, which wasn't very well thought out on my part. My HC is currently 7.4 which in theory if I;dve played to it constantly I perhaps would,ve been in one of the other tours but, as I mucked up rushing explains my being in the Web.com for now (hopefully) As I understand, exemptions or invitations will be offered to players to allow movement between tours of their capabilities and/or improvements so, some of the lets say "better" players will move on soon as with the other tours good players will have bad days and be demoted so that will swing roundabouts too, I don't class myself any better than you or anyone else that plays this or any game, its what you do with it that counts and how you enjoy it. Believe you me this game has had my attention since launch and I should be ranked world No1 in my eyes however, I'm loving the frustration of missing easy putts or punching my fist in the air sinking a 50ft+ hole, hole in one, eagle off the fairway etc! This game is by far the best and I,ve played all the TW golf, EA has to bring something really special this March, Anyway, what I,m trying to say is stick with it mate, I learned a lot of different things from that chart on offer, friends that have taken time to mess about at tweeks and shot types etc. I don,t play this golf like I did with TW in the past, and being honest I like having the good rounds along with the bad, feels more real to me now than just hitting a ball in TW. I along with my friends prefer grid off and I,m bald now pulling my hair out playing that way! If your on XB1 hook me up and we,ll have a round

I'm not giving up, I really enjoy the game and think you guys do an excellent job. I was just under the impression the Q-School would place people where they ought to be. It's always the most fun competing against skill like players. I know I am closer to the bottom of that pile. Thanks for this, if I get an XB1 I'll do that.

with the courses chosen for Q school there where bound to be players that should be placed higher then they were. I should be on the Web tour but I got stupid at Q school and just blew up and didn't think about it. Yeah I probably shouldnt have played all 6 rounds back to back, the last 2 alone dropped me into Champions Tour. But I will move out and Join this tour, just like those shoot 58's will join the PGA or Euro. Give it a couple weeks.

It's unfortunate that some in q-school kind of "gave up on their rounds." But in the end it'll work itself out. Keep at it..

great post from mIck and very pertinent , my sentiments exactly
I am an optimist and not cynical, but this is how i see it
with all these seperate tours you will see the same skilled players at the top and its going to get boring and frustrating getting beaten week in week out , fair enough we will improve but some are more skilled than others. such is life in everything we do , the not so skilled players will already come to the conclusion that there beaten already, so why play in the tour, just look at the top level players and their scores, -26 after 2 rounds-
This is where i think the handicap system should come into play , then we all have a chance, look at the christmas comp with hanidcaps, we saw some new players win which i think is great and fair and will see a variety of players have a chance, the players will be excited to see their name up there . players will be happy and feel good that they have done well and will result in a variety of different players on the leaderboard instead of the same old players up there all the time .
I used to play comp at my local golf course and with our handicaps we all had a fair chance on the day
could go on but that will do for now, just my point of view and i agree with mick

A few standalone handicap events would be the way to go, but for the main tours no way. The best players should win each week, not someone with a higher handicap that happened to have a hot week. After only 2 weeks of the tours running its a bit early to be complaining anyway. The way this has been structured, things will improve as the season progresses, and again once next season starts.

I'm still not confident the handicap system works very well..
