Hey folks, looking for some help here. I have a friend that's very interested in playing TGC 2. He doesn't own an Xbox or a PS so he's interested in the PC version. I'm trying to find information on how to get him started passed downloading the game. Should he buy an Xbox One or PS 4 controller? And if so, how does he hook that up to play? He's looked at some YouTube videos and it's seems like he's very confused. Is there a step by step guide that would help here?
Thanks for the help!

On PC he would be best off buying an official XB1 controller by Microsoft - it's plug/play on a PC via Micro-USB cable - same you'd use for an android cell phone. Looks like it's on sale at Amazon.com

I know TGC 2 has "minimum" pic requirements to run the game but any feedback on what would be needed to run it smoothly without frustration?

Not much - a GTX660Ti or higher will give you very nice performance at standard resolutions. CPU is largely unimportant, as long as it's relatively modern it'll be fine.

Someone forgot to tell that to my win 8.1 computer then, because I plug-n-play with my controller - and it isn't even a microsoft product (sony ds4).

All I know is that I have Win7 Pro and I had to download the driver and the configuration software to get my Xbox 1 controller to work for me.

I run 8.1 and I plug-n-play with a wired XB1 controller. Works just fine

(ps4 controller, just insert into a USB port)

That's great Jacob. Unfortunately I was not able to do that. Why? Don’t you have USB ports? LOL Of course I do Jacob. 6 to be exact. What I'm saying is that my laptop (with win7 pro 64bit) did not automatically recognize and install the drivers for my xbox 1 controller until I went to the update drivers page and manually searched for available updates. The controller had to be plugged in to be recognized of course and when the driver was presented it was under the optional update tab. I'm glad it worked for you but it did not work for me. But I figured it out and all is fine in my golf club 2 universe. We good?
