With player clubs, it's just easy to hit straight. Its not easy to hit far. Hitting straight is a matter of skill, and players can improve over time. Hitting far is a game setting and it's the same for everyone. You cannot hit the ball farther due to skill. In golf, hitting far isn't just relative to where you hit the ball from, it's relative to where you're hitting the ball to. As the object is to get the ball in the hole. On a hole with a dogleg in the fairway, a 'tour clubs' player is most likely going to need factor in a greater amount of directional variation to their shot. A player hitting 'player clubs' will be able to take more of a liberty, play a straighter line to the hole and in doing so is actually gaining a distance advantage relative to the target but not the point you're hitting from. Hitting straight is a matter of skill with all club sets. But it's harder with tour clubs, than player clubs, than standard clubs. So to say you can't hit further due to skill is correct in relation to where you hit from, but not in relation to where you're hitting to IMO.

All I know is I just had a plugged lie in a bunker some 145 yards from the green. Right to left lie with needing to go over a peninsula to a tucked green my tour clubs not only got me just over the bunker but actually stopped on the firm green just beyond the hole. Player clubs would have never held the green on that shot. This is why they are superior, if you hit a great shot you can get rewarded, had I miss hit that shot just a little I get a flyer or duck hook into the water. With player clubs I would have never tried that shot because I know that I couldn't hold the green. If that did happen (I'm not suggesting it didn't by the way!), then tour clubs are fantasy clubs, as that wouldn't happen IRL from a plugged lie. Regardless, I haven't found that tour clubs hold the green better than player clubs at all. The only difference is that you're hitting a 9 iron vs an 8, so it seems the stopping power is loft related. Would be interesting to see how each club set holds the green from a "9 iron away" if you catch my drift. ** I've played exclusively player to begin with, but now play tour so feel qualified to comment**

Just listened to talksport on my drive to work. Said quail is playing 7,600 yards and likely to play soft thus it will favour the bombers.
I thought, it's so brilliant that HB added 3 swings so stuff like this would matter on TGCTours. Oh wait....
Anyways, I'm off to see the psychiatrist lol 😝

I bet they wouldn't trade 20 yards carry for it though......
The padded room is waiting for me....

Andrea - oof, sounds painful! Good luck with the recovery. All Doctors play golf, as I understand it, it's mandatory training. So don't forget to ask them what clubs they play with and report back on this thread...

Let me give you 10 good reasons as to why it would be better that way ... To be honest, I don't really give it a smeg. Half of these posts are just on the wind up to those that can't bare losing to shorter hitters.
