Incoming waffle I joined TGCT so long ago id have to pull up my profile to check lets call it 2 years. At that time I played on feel and pig maths that i worked out myself and the game was the dogs bollox. Then one of my mates found the Doyley charts and the putting marker notes then Boom Boom gave us every other secret including the fully lofted 9 iron which i admit i used but felt so filthy using it had to shower between shots. Basically all Im asking is lets keep some stuff under our hat let the golfers figure it out them selves basic mechanics and a nudge in the right direction is fine you find something tell a mate. Im not complaining about that sort of stuff. i just don't want TGCT2 to become lads playing with an excel table beside them sticking flags and birdie been the new par again for lads who don't put in the effort. If smurfblade88 wants to cover his wall with maths paper and formulas thats fine If Doyley wants to have a excel system that appears like your looking into the matrix thats cool If ijs1543 wants to slot his lad into a usb port and download all the code for the game good for him (just wash after Ian) If Cairnsy780 wants to set up spyware on everyones system and study how everyones plays its a little creepy but all the best and if @swaeromotion thinks threatening the game and holding its motherboard ransom will get him the answers he needs leave him at it. Lets not give it away and have this great Tour return to how it ended up. I hope im not alone thinking this.

People who relied on charts and don't understand the principles of golf will struggle I think.

Maybe not automatically good but, unless the coding is super sophisticated (which we can all agree is not, giving the poor programming skills that HB seems to have - since all the BS of TGC 1 launch is still in TGC 2), the game will be brought down to his knees. And sooner than later I guess, since in the exhibition tourneys the top 10-15 is already averaging 7-10 or more birdies per round.

Some good players will excel at this for the most part. Some will play about where they did. Some will play below where they did. A handful may play well below where they once did. Also, there is the whole effect on the tours under PGA/Euro. Some of those players will excel and move up fairly quickly to the top levels. Some will play a little better, some will play a little worse. All on down the line. Fun will be to see how it all plays out.

The mechanics of golf (ball position, stance being open/closed) and how they change results through the bag depending on lie and wind will be a long process if you don't already understand it from playing RL golf a lot. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm kidding myself - but the results are matching my expectations a lot of the time.

Be nice if we had to draw and fade with the swing and not the bar. This would add more feel to the game. Of course it would be great if we could not loft so much and instead just moved the ball within our feet. I mean pros do loft a deal loft but not like in this game.
End of the day there will always be mappers and charts. So find people who like to play by feel and you know don't do all that other stuff.

I agree with Moe but I think this game was created so charts would not be that important. I think it's why we are hearing so many tantrums, foot stomping and crying like babies because it's not perfect. Things are a little more random, LIKE REAL GOLF.
I don't mine verbal tips but it was designed to be anti-chart. When I read that a guy hates the game because me swings perfectly EVERYTIME and gets random results . . . . GOOD. Either he is cheating or is NOT swinging the same EVERY TIME.
I use math in REAL golf but I still have to use muscle memory to execute.
BTW - I have a chipping LW chart that I won't share . . . but $10 will get you a spreadsheet :-) And it does not help.

Charts and rules of thumb are as old as golf itself ..and from what I can tell so far, not something to be feared nearly as much in this new version.
Totally agree about exploits - keep em under yer hat! (somewhat forlorn cry that one tho...)

I disagree to some extent. When I started with TGCT at the outset, we were a community intent on having fun and helping each other. Now, it is like don't share anything! Doyley's spreadsheet was the best, AND the worst thing that could have been made public. (He did our work for us.) Look for you own answers guys!
My opinion is that 'it is just a video game' for fun. If I need to get serious I will go play real golf. With that said, help to someone who needs help to grasp the game should be given, but crutches to some who don't want to put in the time themselves should be ignored. There IS a difference in 'kinds of help' and tips.
