I played a lot as a kid. Regularly shot in the 90s with the odd 80s thrown in. Best score was 83 but the course was easy and my grasp on the rules wasn't great. I gave up my golf membership when I was 18 to get a Newcastle United season ticket. Big mistake. I hardly played golf but when I did play I was usually high 90s. I then had lessons but made the big mistake of nothe practicing. I was left in limbo between new and old techniques. My golf got so bad I never got to record a full round. I gave up my season ticket at Newcastle last year and I'm back in to golf. I think TGC was part of that desire. I was awful last year even though I played loads. I just had lessons again and I'm playing more often. Starting to get a little better but yet to break 100. It'll be 10 plus years since I did that. I'm hoping to do it before the end of the year.

Usually shoot in the low 80's. Don't usually hit the range before a round and warm up by having a few beers. Maybe slide a few putts. Up until this year, I usually hit 4 iron or 2 iron off the tee but made some small adjustments so now I give the driver a go.
I play in a leagueβ and my partner and I are back to back to back champs.
I hit the ball very high so everything sticks on the green for me. I attribute this to why TGC is so difficult for me because I'm not used to such rollouts.
Hit the driver about 270 and the 9 iron 150. Clubs differential is 10 yards between clubs.

My real life game is just like my TGC performance only much, much shittier.

Used to play to a 12 when I was in my teens. With two young kids I rarely play now. I can still hit the ball well but am super inconsistant. Have always been a bit of a head case on the course. Beer seems to be the only thing that straightens my shots out!

I play to about a 14 or so now, don't get out too often, once a month at best lately. Best score is a -1 (71), I'll never get there again and I've never gotten lower than 74 outside of that, was just one of those days on a fairly short course where I was on fire on the way in, birdied 3 of the last 5 holes and was -4 for the back 9!!! And even though it was 5 and a half yrs ago I can still remember every shot I played that day!
I could share the card if I knew how too

Dean, you, myself and Les lessangster need to get together sometime soon for our own little TGCT competition lol. I get out at most 2/3 times per month, just lately my game has gone completely shite. Recorded my worst ever stableford score the other week at Longhirst with 12pts π±. Where my game has gone I do not know. About 5 years ago I was regularly low 80's, I shot my record low score of 78 (+9) and now I can literally produce any score. About the same time as my record score I played the back 9 at Sharpley in +1, unfortunately the front 9 had been +12. Bagged my first ace last year but still waiting on my first albatross

I'm all over usually. I'll start the season shooting 90 and end it shooting 75 so...it's just fun! Not quite that big of a swing, but 'bout the same... start at 90 and shoot about 80 consistently by fall... My best rounds almost always seem to come if I travel south in the winter (after the snow flies here in Minnesota)

Dunno if we can allow artificial enhancements Les π. If Dean is up for it then we should get something arranged

I got my PGA level 1 last year, going for level 2 this summer. I can shoot close to par on most rounds as long as the rust has been shaved off.

I'm always amazed at the number of codgers there first thing in the morning, wobbly kneed and brutal stances and swings, and still land the ball like 3 feet from the hole from 90 yards away! You're never too old to swing sticks at balls!

Goal each time out now is to keep it in the 80's but it can easily let go into the 90's quickly. There was a time about 8 years when I was golfing almost everyday that I could be low 80's each time out and touched the 70's a couple times. Wasnt a big bomber so it was just keeping the drive accurate and worked on my short game all the time. Now I can hit the ball longer and just cant regain that touch around the greens. Crazy how fast those strokes can add up when you cant get up and down.

It doesn't help an aged swing, I would need bionics to do that.
