Right then Gents (I don't think any ladies have signed up!)
This is the main thread for details on the Team Stableford Order of Merit.
The first event will go live on the 1st of May, the courses will be posted on the day before the event starts.
RULES:
Each event will see three random selected players to be put into a team. A NEW DRAW WILL TAKE PLACE BEFORE EACH NEW EVENT.
Please notify me at least one day before if you cannot play and I will ask for a temporary replacement. If you do not post a score by the end of the week (each event will be live for 7 days), your team will receive the number of stableford points per round equal to that of the lowest scorer IN EACH ROUND. Hopefully you will all agree that this is a fair way to try and keep people interested while not punishing those who turn up.
Please also continue to send me your suggestions for courses, I'd like to get venues organised at least one month in advance.
PLEASE NOTE - Courses that are being used in this event are going to be nominated by the entrants, so please keep feedback polite and constructive, yes I know I'm being hypocritical, but I have been shown the error of my ways and I'm trying to change
Each round will be allocated a TEAM score order of merit score for finishing 1st to 7th as follows:
1st place - 10 points per player 2nd place - 8 points per player 3rd place - 6 points per player 4th place - 4 points per player 5th place - 3 points per player 6th place - 2 points per player 7th place - 1 point per player
There will also be a separate running total for individual overall scores and a highest total based on a single week (or three rounds).
I will organise a prize for the winner of the main order of merit event (this unfortunately discounts me and my bro lol) when it is complete, I will run the event until the end of September if the numbers keep up, and then perhaps look to do a second season based entirely on TGC2.
Don't get too excited, the prize will not be a LaFerrari, and will depend on things like your location and what platform you are using.
Hopefully this all makes sense, any questions, suggestions or comments, please air them before the tournament starts as I wont be making changes after 1st of May.
Thank you for your interest, and good luck.

All details for the event as per the linky below:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZhGTJIv2-HS44YgLOkN4ssin9b7feSJqfaShCfmK46c/edit#gid=946198775
Please, please PLEASE remember to record, photograph, screenshot your scores as the Stableford scoring format for this game doesn't show how many points you have once you have completed your rounds, you cannot revisit or replay with your ghost! Anyone who forgets their score will have to make do with their lowest players scores for EACH round.
Teams will be drawn at the earliest opportunity once the last event has finished, and will be completely random. One member of the winning team will be asked to provide numbers 1-36 in a random order to decide the following weeks teams.

Somebody make this man a google doc to input scores that goes to a sheet that converts it to stableford. So we dont have to take pictures of scorecards and such. I can do it in the coming week if anyone doesnt want to do it sooner.

The game sorts it all out for the you, you just have remember to take a screenshot or at least remember your three scores, as once you've left I makes the scorecard look all weird.

I don't get the having teams bit if they're not staying the same throughout the competition.... maybe I'm just being thick but I'm not grasping the concept very well

I don't get the having teams bit if they're not staying the same throughout the competition.... maybe I'm just being thick but I'm not grasping the concept very well My view is it gives everyone on opportunity to be on a " good" team and a better chance at earning top points for the round. Each participant earns team points based on their finish as well as individual points....please correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.

Still don't get it ðķ so is it an individual comp then? Yes, but you also earn individual points based on how your team performed.

The main objective is a bit of fun, but also to give everyone the chance to win. Take it as a bit like handicapping, so the likes of Mark and Steve Sloan, who are likely to be contending for most things they enter, wont necessarily be favourites to win, as they may get drawn with lower league players each time, equally, players from the CC divisions may get grouped with Euro and PGA players and be at the top end of the leaderboard.
Just thought it would be a fun way to even it out. If it doesn't work, then i'll stick with permanent teams for next time.

If everything is ready to go why are we waiting until 1st may? Sorry i might have missed the reason why. TGC2 might be out in may so ideally you would want it wrapped up before then woukdnt you?
