Hey guys I'm a crappy designer but always loved reading tidbits on the architecture behind it. Much respect for everyone here that puts in work so we can play great courses. Quick question for the designer community. You guys ever check out golfclubatlas.com for inspiration? And if so, which RCR that hasn't been done properly needs to be done in 2019? ABSOLUTELY! My last two courses were inspired by looking at Golf Club Atlas. The Dunes at Broken Hills tried to mimic the scenery of Bandon Dunes and Monterey Bay Country Club drew heavily from Monterey Peninsula Country Club ... with the 14th of the course in game basically playing as a mirror to the actual 14th hole, with some artistic license. theclv24 's OG design contest is calling for several semi-RCRs and inspired by courses. I'm doing St. Louis C.C. for that series, which some adjustments for length to better fit this game, and Golf Club Atlas is one of my go-to references for that project, along w/ Google Earth. The hole-by-hole write ups really come in hand when trying to capture the strategic value of the holes while the pictures help give me a point of reference to emulate the look/feel of the course.

Quick question for the designer community. You guys ever check out golfclubatlas.com for inspiration? And if so, which RCR that hasn't been done properly needs to be done in 2019? This question will be pretty subjective based on who you ask. I think the general crowd will point towards courses on tour or on TV that aren't in the game. In that sense I tend towards to lean towards major venues, and the two that stick out off the top of my head are Royal Portrush (pretty sure this hasn't been done) and The Country Club in Brookline. As far as design inspiration goes, though, I think people who design in the game need to see some courses that likely won't ever be on tour, but are top of the line in terms of either classic or modern design. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but these are courses I've looked at and for sure would love to see in the game: Cal Club Eastward Ho Sand Hills Philly Cricket Myopia Hunt Club Pacific Dunes Whippoorwill Bandon Trails Pasatiempo Moraine CC Old Sandwich Somerset Hills Essex County Club Calusa Pines Friar’s Head Sand Valley I check out golfclubatlas a lot as I'm a member of the site! Also... San Francisco CC Prairie Dunes LACC North Kiawah Ballyneal Lost Farm Streamsong Red/Blue/Black Sebonack MPCC Shore Cherry Hills Aronimink Royal Portrush And can someone finish Bethpage Black already?? I think two or three people have started but no one's finished it to my knowledge Also, why has no one done the composite course at Royal Melbourne yet?? I'm glad Royal County Down is almost done!

I thoroughly enjoy playing Monterey Bay Country Club. Finishing hole made me smile cause I instantly thought about 18 at Pebble. Great work! I'm glad I'm not the only golf nerd that reads the write-ups on there haha. They're magical.

Hickory Creek pulled a fair amount of inspiration from Forest Creek, minus a little different setting. I planned on a more water-heavy course from the start, but after the basic layout was already done, I stumbled on Forest Creek and pulled a lot from it for the style. Guess I'll be playing that tonight

I'm working on my Ballyneal pseudo-RCR for the OG contest as we speak. Hopefully it's only a couple of weeks out.

While we're talking wishlists... Would love to see Cabot Cliffs/Cabot Links done, along with Swinley Forest and Cruden Bay. Wish I had the patience/time!

Not sure yet. Depends on how things go with Griff and making RCRs for other reasons... If the time is there though Cruden Bay and Cabot Cliffs are both tracks I'm down for.

As I mentioned in the TST thread Matt, I played Swinley Forest yesterday and took a bunch of pics. Haven't checked whether any of the pics are usable, but can post them all here if anyone did want them to make an RCR of the course (or even just see the pics!). They have made a bunch of changes over the winter to improve the course, and it was in great condition for once.
Would be difficult to make it properly playable for TGC though, as even off the back tees (a few of which are new) it only stretches to about 6400-6500 yards.
There were definitely at least two pins cut on yellow slopes yesterday too........ (18th was the nastiest - I had two different goes at 15ft downhill putts (with about 4ft of R->L break) that I couldn't lag within 6-8 feet!)

Oh yes, golfclubatlas.com is one of my all-time favorite sites on the subject. Tons of wonderful articles, deep analyses of hundreds of courses, hole by hole, all from a design perspective. Thanks for mentioning it!

Just found the best footage to date, of Sleepy Hollow CC. Like what you see? Load up a round at Briarcliff Hollow afterwards and enjoy.
