So fellow community members, recently I was thinking about what I did before I found TGC and TGC Tours, and I remembered the fun I had with the Hot Shots Golf series. Anyway, I'm curious, what golf games did you play before TGC?

PGA2000 which also had a course designer, TW Series 2004-2008 (designed courses from 2006-2008 with it also), plus the online series while it existed. I got involved in the start of Perfect Golf several years ago but got tired of the waiting period of that game developing (which is still a beta golf game), and through the frustration of waiting on PG's Course Forge golf designer I bought TGC and the rest has been history. Very glad that I purchased this game a year and a half ago.

This is where my personal golf hype began back in the days: Followed by: After that I also played the Links Series, Jack Nicklaus Golf and of course Tiger Woods (while not remembering the exact years anymore).

Links: The entire series from The Legend of Golf through to Links 386, Links LS, up until Links 2003. Still break it out once in a blue moon. As above, TW on console later on, but that's just collecting dust somewhere now.

My video golf started way back with the original Links on PC. Played just about every version of EA's PGA Tour games on the Genesis and then PlayStation. Then pretty much every Tiger version afterwards. Certainly plenty of Hot Shots. Original Pro Stroke was brilliant with its course editor. Links on the first Xbox was good fun.
Two older and less known golf titles stand out as favorites to me. There was a game called VR Golf on the PS1 that I loved. The golf was good but the announcer made the game. Crusty old British guy who would blast you with hilarious quips about how bad you were if you hit bad shot. Then my favorite of all time, Outlaw Golf 2. Ok, yes, the characters were stupid and it was decidedly arcade. But the golf was fun and gave you ability to be very creative with you shots. Became addicted and ended up being the #1 ranked player on the Xbox. Just a shame the developers took the game down the trashy character route. If they had put that gameplay with a cutesy Mario type character set it might still be being made. Turns out most golfers don't want to play as strippers and escaped convicts. Who knew?

In terms of golf, for me it was absolutely nothing but PGA 2000. I had some TW series try (and eve PGA Tour 96) but nothing compared to PGA 2000: And I think there are still some users giving the game some life -> www.golfsimclubhouse.com/pga2000/Oooh come on, what I found there jarednich:

One game I forgot to mention earlier was the little known EagleEye Golf. It also had a course designer, and it was very unique: it used a grid system. I couldn't find a video of it, but it was a very interesting thing to check out.
