So the first Euro tourney is 1-5 to 1-11 and then the PGA tour that non-qualified folks can play in is 1-12 so this works!

Ok.. I can understand that. Thanks Mr 5wd. Sucks that I can't play my country's open event. I'd think there's better $$$ and bragging rights in the TOC. TGCT is a big universe with many players in it. I appreciate their focus on limiting people to one tournament/tour per week. You can always withdraw from the TOC prior if you really want to be in South Africa. I'm sure someone else will appreciate going to the TOC in your place.

We will NOT be backfilling the TOC if players decide not to play. You either qualified or you didn't. :-)

For this first ever tourney needing a hybrid start, I think it'd be sweet if someone got the nod if someone else chickened out. That's just me, though. Re: South Africa - A limit of 200 is rather small, all things considered. It's the first legit tourney ever. There's 250+ in Euro/PGA. Remove 38, you have 212. That leaves 12 (at least) hung out to dry by some method. Yes, I'm assuming everyone wants to play, because it's the first tourney, and people are anxious. So, someone decides to drop the TOC and play South Africa...just bumping more people out. Just my $.02. You should allow anyone and everyone from PGA/Euro to play this first tourney then. Because I will assume most/all will use one of their 10 cross overs for this tourney.

Got to say I disagree that a mass of PGA players are flooding the first Euro tour competition, the odds of a PGA winner are now greatly increased and what happens then? 1. First duel card holder? 2. No reciprical comp on the PGA where the Euro players match up, for instance the week of the President Cup no tournament at all. Perhaps consider having a comparable tournament set up on the PGA for the first week, it has been done for Web/Champions tour

You have to earn your way into this event. Not get there as an alternate.

I would have liked to have been part of the first Euro tour event in SA. But, like you say, there is better $$$ and bragging rights in the TOC. I'm certainly not chickening out, just didn't realise the TOC was on the PGA tour in week 1. If I had to choose which tourney to play, I'd choose the TOC for it's prestige 10/10 times. No withdrawals here.. Game on!

We will NOT be backfilling the TOC if players decide not to play. You either qualified or you didn't. :-) While I understand the logistics of this decision, it would be difficult to ascertain who didn't show up or decided not to play and then find someone who is next in line to play, it goes against the PGA's own alternate system. Anyone remember Jon Daly who won the PGA Championship after being the last alternate in? What I might suggest is that the first five or ten alternates be contacted and told that they may play the first two rounds of the tournament in question and submit those scores. If everyone shows up, well they got a couple practice rounds. If there are people at the cut who didn't show up, then those alternate scores would become legitimate rounds and scored accordingly. Just a suggestion.

I'll be there. I'm terribly excited about visiting South Africa again (if only virtually). I need to get back out on the links though! I took too long a break away from TGC over Christmas. Played my first round in over a week last night and I was AWFUL! Amazing how rusty you can get in a video game! Everything felt foreign to me. Time to buckle down and get my groove back.

I was on the fence, but decided to register just so I wouldn't put myself behind the crowd early in WGR points. I need to practice Pominville but hopefully the SA Open will let me get the rust off before I bear down on putting my notes together for Pominville.
