@tim Doyley bentfivewoodhey, have you guys given much thought on how you plan on handles this in tgc2, in regards to tees and swing mode? if HB gives us the option to set tourneys up with locked tees and swing modes. obviosly tees should be locked, but on the fence with swing mode, if we can choose from the three, there would be more deviation between the players, but if it's locked, it offers fair balance, so both have their positives.

I think all players shud be able to use whatever swing they like personally. The whole point of the 3 swing difficulties is they are supposed to be balanced. Player A can hit his Driver 300y but may struggle for accuracy Player B can hit his Driver 270y but should be fairly accurate Player C can hit his Driver 250y but will find it hard not to be accurate. (Made up the yardages, im sure u get my point though) I jus hope that HB doesn allow people to change Swing difficulty in the middle of a round. I think once you choose ur difficulty for a tourny rnd u shud hav to play it out. From what iv seen of the swing choices I think most ppl will end up on Medium difficulty as it doesn seem to need much of a deviation on a straight swing to send the ball miles wide.

From what I remember of the live stream HB did when announcing TGC2 they had no plans to let competition creators lock a set swing. I can't remember if you were able to swap which difficulty you wanted in round, seem to think you could. Is it just the Driver that has the added distance for Tour Swing? Was just thinking that if it's for every club then surely you could just hit 3W and hit it the same sort of distance as someone on middle difficulty, but with the yardage remaining you'd be left a more lofted club as you can hit it further than them?

Why not switch mid-round. Sometimes in real golf I'll try to crush an extra 30yds from a drive, or knock down a drive...why not have this same thing in tourneys?

I am 99.9% sure that you cannot switch difficulties mid round. They did it on the original stream but went out of their way to say it was an early build and not intended for the finished product.

All club distances are affected by the swing difficulty change. Also i believe you will get more spin on the higher difficulties than on lower ones. So not only is distance a incentive to use the harder swing but also spin control. I personally hope they don't lock swing modes in comps. It could add a bit of variation to play. You may get people using easy swing to dial down the shorter distances. I assume most will jump to the harder difficulties though with the 2 benefits i mentioned above. I agree though with not allowing you to switch difficulties mid round. That would be overpowered. I also believe from the stream i watched that HB has no intention of letting that be adjustable mid round.

I think we'll have to see what the actual difference in accuracy really is. It could end up being meaningless if the less accurate setting isn't as effective as expected.

I think we'll have to see what the actual difference in accuracy really is. It could end up being meaningless if the less accurate setting isn't as effective as expected. There is so much unknown with the swings but I agree with the above statement. If the difference between the swings is mainly distance, then you have to ask can you loft like before? If you loft will you get more backspin? I think being able to switch between swing modes should be allowed. Different situations may require different swings. An example you are playing into the wind on a par 5 and you want to try to cut the corner or get over a pond. You can't do it on a normal swing but on the hardest, you can will a well executed shot, so for that one shot you want to put a bit extra on it, just like you would in a real round. We already have a little of this because we are able to loft/deloft shots while in the round. Selecting this makes the shot harder to hit accurately. What I'm hoping is that the swings between the platforms are all the same. You need the same tempo to hit the perfect shot on all three platforms. No platform should get perks that the others do not, ect. I really do hope HB comes up with some significant differences between the swings OTHER than distance, else it really seems silly to have three different swings when the only thing you can gain is more distance.

From what I've read locking in swing types per tournament has no chance of happening - and I don't think it will matter if they balance the swings well enough.

My understanding of this (which is probably limited) is that the idea is Harder Swing = more club head speed. More Club Head Speed = more distance and higher spin rate. I'm hoping that lofting will be all but gone. But that's probably a pipe dream. In my perfect world, you would have the three swing options, and also three golf ball options. A rock hard ball (Top Flight or Pinnacle) that the slow swinger would use IRL to get as much distance out of that driver speed of 70 MPH, a medium ball, and something that doesn't go as far but that you could spin. Kind of like golf used to be before the Pro V1 ruined everything on the pro tours. You used to have to choose between a ball that roughly resembled a rock from someone's driveway or a balata ball that would cut if you caught it the least bit thin. Added bonus: the ball would be out of round after 4 holes even if you didn't cut it.

Spin is not always a good thing, still if we can get it where we can spin on firm conditions to stop it, I'm all for it! It would be awesome if they could add, "mud to the ball" on wet conditions or hitting out of divots. I'll be happy if they fix the auto plug you get from hitting a ball directly into a sand trap, even with a driver.

Not sure about switching between swing modes. Shouldn't that be controlled by your stick (club) swing speed?
